Just a comment on the post title:
Installing a well established (and free) application like Loom isn't a painpoint for me.
Do you know of any specific people who feel like there's friction in setting up and/or using Loom?
But can you argue that starting the recording from a website is preferable to starting it from a chrome extension or from installed software?
I have Loom (Chrome Extension) and for me that feels more comfortable to use than Zest.
