I want to feature YOU in front of 500 subscribers!

Hey fellow Indie Hackers 👋

I am writing and curating a weekly newsletter called → Creativerly. Creativerly is about creativity and productivity-boosting tools and resources, combined with useful insights, articles, and learnings from the fields of design and tech. Recently, I reached 500 subscribers (an in-depth post about that is coming soon to the Creativerly Indie Hackers page) and I want to celebrate it with my fellow Indie Hackers. 🥰

One part of my newsletter is a section where I feature Apps, Tools, Software mainly from the productivity/creativity space. I am always on the hunt for new tools that boost my workflow. I am a sucker for new productivity tools. If you are building something in that space, we should get in contact, since I want to feature your tool/app in front of 500 subscribers (Designers, Writers, Entrepreneurs, Indie Hackers, Creatives, even VCs). ✨

Just drop a short but informative pitch in the comments down below (plus a way to get in contact with you if I want to feature your product). You can also just mention products from Indie Hackers you personally admire!

Also, if you build a useful resource, or wrote an insightful article, share it here since I am also featuring content like this every single week.

If you want to be sure if your tool or your resource is a fit for the newsletter, you can → check out the archive and skim through the recent issues.

Why am I doing this? 🤔

Because my journey with Creativerly started right here on IndieHackers, looking for help to grow it. I am incredibly thankful for every single tip I got (especially big thanks to @pauldmet @AndrewKamphey and @chaica who got things going by sharing their expertise with me early on). Therefore I want to give something back to the community.

There might be a lot of bigger newsletters out there with a lot more subscribers, but this is a huge milestone for me and Creativerly readers are highly engaged and interested in tools and resources which boost their workflow and help them to stay creative and productive. So I will definitely be able to send you and your product some traffic.

If you want to directly reach out to me you can do so by dropping me a → dm over at Twitter or just send an email to creativerly[at]philipptemmel.design. Let's just talk and connect, I am always open to new opportunities.

Thank you for doing this, and congratulations on growing your list so fast!

I'm running logology: a way for startup founders to get a meaningful logo + brand identity in minutes. That way they can stay focused on building their product but already look professional.

We start by asking questions about the values and vision for your company, and then automatically show branding proposals that express it. Every design was made by us.

Let me know if you find it interesting for your audience, I'm not sure it fits 100% into "designer workflow improvement" but I thought it might. I can be reached on twitter.

    Cheers!

Thank you for contributing @dagorenouf 🙌🏻

I was always biased about online logo creators, since the product they delivered always were not really visually appealing. On the other hand, I 100% understand the need for it. Technical founders who want to get things going by quickly create a logo or brand identity demonstrate the perfect use-case for something like that. Also, a time-consuming perspective also plays a huge part in this. On top of that, I think designers can also profit from tools like that and use it as an inspirational starting point. Just as you mentioned, Logology creates logos + brand identities in minutes, Designer often take hours to come up with a couple raw ideas, so using a tool like this as an inspirational source is pretty neat.

Also, I love your landing page! Great work!

I added logology to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly, thank you for sending it in.

      1. 3

Thank you for the kind words 🙏

I just subscribed to your newsletter and it looks surprisingly in depth. I expected mostly a list of links but it's a nice write up that makes me curious to learn more about each recommendation. Seems like you're putting a lot of work into making it interesting, kudos to that 😀

We share your perspective on logo generators, that's what motivated us to start in the first place. My cofounder is a logo design rockstar who has worked with startups for years (see her past work here and we thought we could create something way closer to a proper brand design process.

It takes a lot of time to create interesting logos ahead of time (research for each sector + design). I guess that's why nobody's done it before and instead used free libraries. We've been working mostly full time on it for the past 2 years, and it's starting to take shape. We've just crossed 500+ original designs, all made from scratch by her.

Related to your audience: we do have a few designers using it as inspiration already, and are working on a release of ~25 new logos focused on the design sector by next week (ui/ux designers, fashion, interior design, etc.)

Wether you end-up featuring us or not, thanks for your post as it helped me think about the value we could bring designers and not just founders.

        Good luck with Creativerly,
        Cheers!

@philipptemmel Thank you so much for sharing this post! It's a great help for the community, appreciate it a lot.

I have been running a design agency (brucira.com) for the past 2.5 years. Working with multiple clients over the past couple of years, we as designers found it extremely difficult to collaborate with developers, especially during the design review process post-development. So, I decided to solve this by building my product, ruttl.com

Ruttl is a visual collaboration tool that allows teams to communicate on a single platform, where the look and feel of a website can be directly edited. I recommend you to check out the landing page, as my team and I have worked hard to get it up and running!

If you need any more information on my product, do reach out to me at [email protected]

    Cheers!

    1. 1

That is so cool @harshvijay 🤩

I am a big fan of your landing page, you make it totally within the first headline and Subtext what your product is all about. The header video giving a quick demonstration how the product will work is also really neat. ✨

I added ruttl.com to my list to feature it in Creativerly. 🙌🏻

Also, I got some quick feedback for you, I will drop you an email later.

Thank you so much for showcasing this!

      1. 2

That's super nice to hear @philipptemmel. Thanks a lot for considering ruttl.com and am waiting for your feedback. Here is my ID: [email protected]

    2. 1

That is a really nice app! I can easily see how it could fill a need in existing workflows in most places I worked. I wish you luck!

      1. 1

Thanks a lot! Good luck with your newsletter too!

  3. 2

Hey @philipptemmel, thanks for this, I am working on a product to increase the productivity of Job Seekers, by helping them apply to as many jobs as they want, while still keeping the quality of the applications really high, through tailored resumes. Let me know if this could be a fit for your audience. link to pre-launch page

    1. 1

Thank you for contributing to this post @manmeet!

Here are some observations/thinkings while browsing through your landing page:

"More than 70% of the resumes are rejected before even reaching the recruiter!" - that might be a fact, but I am not 100% sure the resume is always the reason you get rejected. There are a lot of companies (and this might be bad practice) that do not even look at your resume and just judge by the email you send them.

"An average recruiter spends less than 10 seconds to decide whether to proceed with your application or reject it." - Again, this might be a fact. Your FAQ-section gives me the perfect reasons why I should create a resume myself instead of using a service like Bespoke Resume. Why? Let's break it down: "A tailored resume shows them effort and highlights skills that they want to see, don’t take our word for it, just search tailored resume on Google and read any of the thousands of articles that say the same thing." - You are absolutely right, a generic Resume which looks like any other resume will likely get rejected compared to a tailored one. But what I get from this sentence is, that I should create it myself, because I can tailor it much better than any AI ever could. It is not only about tailoring, but it is also, and that might be even more important personalisation. If you have tailored your resume to a specific job application that is one part, but now I want to see that you took your time to personalise it so it speaks for itself.

"Why can't I do this manually?" - "It just takes time and usually when searching for a job you don’t want to spend too much time just preparing the resume for one job." - Well, I would encourage anybody to put some time in creating a resume for a job application they would love to apply for. Sure thing this is time consuming, but if they create a resume themselves which really speaks for them, the chances are high they will get invited to an interview.

Do not get me wrong, I am speaking from a creatives/designer perspective. If you are a creative person applying for a job in a creative niche/work area then please create the resume yourself and do not use any templates.

      1. 1

I agree with most of your points Philipp and in fact, for creative professionals, I think a creative resume would serve them better, but the service is targeted more towards other roles like software developer, marketer, salesperson etc. where the job profiles are similar looking and as you said a lot of companies don't even look at the applicants' resume, even if they are actively recruiting for that post, for them job hunting, unfortunately, becomes a numbers game, in entry-level roles applying to 100-250 job roles is not uncommon and making these many tailored resumes, it just tires people out.

Also, the AI won't tailor the resume, it just identifies the things you should add, makes a couple of adjustments and then just recommends the changes which you ultimately do yourself, thus adding the personalization you mentioned, just much quicker, this would be a lot clearer once I add a video/gif of the demo on the page. I hope this makes sense and thanks a lot for taking out the time to write the suggestions. Best of luck with the newsletter:)

        1. 1

Thank you for your clarification! I can now totally get where you are coming from. Also the separation from creative professionals.

I would also second your idea of maybe adding a quick feature video or gif to give the user an idea how it works, this would be pretty neat I think.

Anyways, congrats on building Bespoke Resume, wishing you all the best for your future!

  4. 2

Congrats, @philipptemmel ! Always great to come across other productivity enthsiasts.

I am working on an app called Re:Schedule - a calendar built for people who run a lot of meetings. It integrates agendas, meeting notes and tasks with your calendar. The advantage is that your meeting information is in one place, organized according to your schedule so you don't have to dig around different tools during your meeting. You can think of it as a calendar designed around meeting workflows and collaboration.

    More info - https://www.reschedule.app

    1. 1

Thank you so much for sending this in @girishw Reschedule is solving a problem a lot of people have: They use calendars to track down their meetings, events, but calendar apps were not made to use it as a task manager, although a lot of people adding events as tasks, on the other hand task manager apps are simply task managers. I am a big advocate of creating a calendar tool which combines the best of both worlds. I just want to have one calendar/task manager on my devices, I just need one tool to manage my meetings, upcoming and recurring events, and tasks and to-dos.

Kieran McHugh is currently also building a tool, named Daybridge in that sector, super excited about this one.

Quick feedback: the "Try Mac Beta" Button in your navbar has no destination. 😊

Do you also plan to release an mobile app or even go cross-platform with Android?

I just signed up for the Mac Beta. Curious to try Reschedule out!

I added it to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly.

      1. 1

Thanks, @ @philipptemmel ! I've fixed the button on the website. The messaging and the site are badly in need of a revamp :-)

Daybridge looks cool, though they seem to be targeting a different problem. My initial focus is to bring it to the Mac. A mobile app is further down the road and will need a different design. Meetings are the core of Re:Schedule, so the mobile use case will be to participate in a meeting while on the run.

I shall be in touch shortly with the beta information.

Many thanks Philipp for this awesome job!
My wife and I are traveling as digital nomads for years, but during the lockdown we just stucked in Asia and decided to develope a new app to help people stay motivated and productive everyday. Now we are working on Motiveex.com, It provides daily does of motivation in bite-size, A greater choice to kick off the day, focus on your goals and boost your productivity.

Feel free to reach us via hello(at)motiveex.com

    1. 1

Thank you for sending this in @Unknownworld 🙌🏻

You are tackling a problem or better said a situation a lot of us experienced through the last couple of months. I lost motivation for one of most loved habits during the lockdown: I was writing a bullet journal every single day, with pen and paper, which just felt great. But during the pandemic, and especially during the lockdown, I lost motivation, because we stuck at home and all I could document were the news.

Thank you for creating such a thoughtful app, I will definitely check it out and noted it down to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly. If there are any questions from my side, I will drop you an email. 😊

      1. 1

Thanks a ton for your encouraging feedback. It motivates us to keep working hard :) We will keep in contact via email.

  6. 2

Congrarz Philipp on 500 subscribers, huge! good job and I love the niche you have chosen 👍

Im building tabExtend, its a tool to make you more efficent in saving and clearing tabs in your browser. By organizing tabs into spaces and adding notes or to-dos to them you will be able to move on and get a better focus. This is not a new idea but my take on it is that i want to reduce the friction of jumping to other apps and letting you do all this in the browser. I have a bunch of other features planned aswell around this idea 💡

Im in the beta/testing phase of the first version right now, please check out my prelaunch site at https://tabextend.com

    1. 1

First of all, thank you for the congratulations!

Secondly, WOW, just WOW, TabExtend is a tool tailored exactly for me 🤩 I am working with way to much tabs open. When I was using Chrome I used a tool called Workona, which also let me create workspaces with different tabs and jump between them, but suddenly the experience wasn't what I expected. My RAM often went crazy, although my workspaces consisted of a maximum of 5 tabs. Then I made the switch to Firefox and suddenly I had privacy concerns about Workona. I recently got in contact with them and discussed this topic, they are already working on that.

Nevertheless, I can say without a doubt, that you created the most-beautiful looking tab manager I have ever seen. I immediately signed up to your waiting list. Whenever you have a version for Firefox ready to go, let me know, because I would love to try this out.

Also, I am already a fan of the new approach you added, by having the possibility to take quick-notes or add to-dos. Although I am using for both scenarios specific tools, I totally see the use-case there, whenever I am working in the browser and I want to quickly jot down some ideas, notes, to-dos, it often takes time to jump to the specific tool and add everything there. With TabExtend it looks like a super simple and fast solution. So whenever you are done working in the browser you can still transfer the notes you took to your preferred tool and turn it into a long-form note.

Congrats @upat5_gustav on this great idea and tool! I added it to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly. Also, I can not wait to try it out. 🙌🏻 Great work!

      1. 2

thank you so mutch for your kind words sir! You really hit the nail on the description on what the app will offer. I will message you when I have more to share, and this got me even more fired up to finish up the last work I have 🙏

  7. 2

Great idea and congratulations on the milestone!

I’m building a micro-sass to automate social images for content creators. It’s helped me crank out more blog posts recently than ever before.

Feel free to reach me via email if you want to get in touch: [email protected]

    1. 1

Wow @joemasilotti that is such a time-saver! Great idea, great product, very useful. I love your smiling mug logo 🥰

Your landing page is a great example, that you do not need much to clearly communicate a product, I am a big fan of that.

I just tried it out with one of my blog posts, I pasted the url, pressed "Create my mugshot" and boom there it is. It is super fast!

I added it to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly, and I will definitely reach out to you. 😊

      1. 1

That's great to hear, thank you! I can't wait to see it featured in the newsletter and am looking forward to hearing from you.

        Also, subscribed!

  8. 2

I want to test this channel out, I am intrigued. I think my tool would be exciting for your audience.

Story Creator is an online video editing tool, automatic subtitles, video trimming, templates, animations, etc.

Let me know if you'd like to get things going.

    1. 1

I remember seeing your product on Product Hunt, congrats on reaching #1 Product of the Day and #3 Product of the Week, what an achievment!

I am a big advocate when it comes to moving specific tools to the browser, so I really like your idea of an online video editing tool, that sounds super interesting.

Your landing page is absolutely top-notch, you nailed the copy-writing, the product presentation, and your logo is just gorgeous, you basically done everything right. ✨

I added you to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly, is there a way to reach out to you to discuss some further things?

  9. 2

Congrats on the milestone! Looks cool. Where do you often come across the tools/apps that you feature? Twitter / Product Hunt / Indie Hackers / BetaList? Or other stuff as you come across them?

    1. 1

      Thank you @ac_fiedler 🥰

Most of the tools/apps I feature I find on Product Hunt, Indie Hackers, BetaList, Makehub, Profit Hunt, Open Startup, but also as you mentioned on Twitter or other social networks like Reddit.

On top of that I also get directly contacted by founders, makers, indie hackers, and they introduce me to their tool.

But yes, most of the time it is a curation process of different sources.

  10. 2

Cool! Nice of you to give back to the community.

I've been working on a project management tool, Portabella. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether that fits your productivity tool requirement, I think it should.

I've gone down the privacy friendly route that many indie hackers go down, which is very topical at the moment so maybe your readers will be interested.

    1. 1

      You got it at "privacy-friendly" @alex_b_h 😊

I am a big privacy advocate, I vanished Google from my life, and always try to use tools which respects their user's privacy. Since you made a productivity tool, which actually respects its user's privacy, it already is a perfect fit for the Creativerly readers.

Portabella looks really promising, I will definitely try it out, and added it to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly.

Thank you for sending it in! Is there a way to reach out to you for any further questions?

      1. 2

Cheers! Yeah [email protected] or on twitter Alex_B_H_.

Let me know how it goes!

  11. 2

Congrats Philipp for the huge milestone! I'm hoping to reach that soon too :) And thanks for doing this!

I think the designers in your audience might be interested in some of the resources I've been putting together on Ariyh, where I share marketing tips based on scientific research.

Particularly this article, that's right now front page on Hacker News: A ritual for your product increases satisfaction and spending

(First time that's ever happened btw, gonna write a post about how that happened soon!)

    1. 2

Wow, you are writing great and very insightful articles @tdmck

Also, thank you for your congratulations! How many subscribers do you currently have? I am in the process of finishing an article about my journey of reaching 500 subscribers, maybe there will be some useful insights for you, I will let you know once I published it.

I added your article to my list of to-feature article in Creativerly. Thank you for your contribution!

      1. 2

Thank you so much Philipp, great to hear you like the articles and thanks for featuring it in Creativerly!

I've just hit 428 subscribers, but I still need to find 'sustainable' channels where I see continuous growth. For now they mostly came from my LinkedIn but I've kind of saturated that (until I grow my network). I'll keep you posted once I hopefully find some interesting channels.

Looking forward to your article of how you got to 500!

  12. 2

This is awesome! Thank you so much for reaching out to the IH community for projects to feature. This is a great way to help the community while growing the newsletter.

Would love to have Vailable (vailable.io) featured on the newsletter. It's a quick free scheduling platform for figuring out the best time to meet for an event. It has a really cool gradient UI that shows darker colors at dates/times where the most users are available.

I wrote this code in college and have been working on it as a side project for around a year now. It's mostly used by student orgs at Yale, NYU, UCSD, etc.

    Contact: Twitter @wu_json

    1. 2

That is a super useful idea @jsun2153 and I totally see the use-case there, to quickly check who is available when, great work.

I really like the availability chart which gives you super quick overview of when everyone is available. You also executed the idea really well by using a gradient for displaying when most people are available, great work!

I added Vailable to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly. I will also reach out to you on twitter since I have some feedback for you. 😊

  13. 2

    Thank you for doing this!

I am working on Mockoon (https://mockoon.com), an open-source desktop mock API creation tool. Targeted mainly toward front-end developers, it allows them to quickly and easily mock a missing API while giving them full control over a wide range of settings.

If you need more information you can reach me on Twitter @255kb or [email protected].
    Cheers!

    1. 1

      Thank you @255kb for contributing.

I am honest with you, my developing knowledge is pretty basic, therefore I do not really know what problem your product is solving. Also, since it is mainly targeted towards front-end developers, it is not really a fit for Creativerly, since a very small number of my subscribers have knowledge in that field.

Nevertheless, thank you for sending this in, and wishing you all the best with mockoon.

      1. 1

No problem @philipptemmel I wasn't completely sure it was a good fit :)
        Good luck with your newsletter!

  14. 2

Thank you for doing such an amazing service!

  15. 2

I love that you're doing this! I just launched www.spendyt.com, a tool to simply track your expenses. Tracking expenses shouldn't be too difficult and time consuming.
If you need more information you can dm me on twitter @SpendytApp.

    1. 1

Thank you for your contribution @gregst

I really like how you explain your logo on your landing page, and it is super creative, really cool idea. Do you plan to also create mobile apps or just leave it as an web app for now?

I added Spendyt to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly, and I will reach out to you on Twitter since I have some feedback for you. 😊

      1. 1

        That's awesome!

For now I'm going to leave it as a web app and see where it goes. But it's optimized for mobile use, so people can always use it there for now.

  16. 1

    Hey @philipptemmel,

Thank you for contributing to this post @tonidie 🙌🏻

As I already mentioned in a previous comment to another product, the percentage of developers subscribed is fairly small. Since your product is aimed at developers it might not be the right fit to feature in Creativerly.

Nevertheless, I wish you all the best for building DevUtils!

As you might already read from some previous comments here, I am a big privacy advocate, so I already love Panelbear. 🤩

I also got a post about Google Analytics Alternatives in the pipeline and will add Panelbear straight away.

You have some tough competition in the privacy analytics niche (Fathom Analytics, Plausible Analytics, Simple Analytics, ...) but just by looking at your website I already know that you built a promising tool! Also, I love the super simple dashboard, just what you need in a very well-designed dashboard, great work.

Currently, I am looking for a privacy analytics tool and I am trying out different services, therefore it would be super cool to also get my hands on Panelbear!

I added it to my list of to-feature products in Creativerly, thank you so much for sending it in. Is there a way to get in contact with you for any further questions?
