I was tired of spotting Squid Game everywhere, so did some research and found this!

Is it just me or is everyone here seeing memes and gifs of The Squid Game everywhere? 🤔

It surely has been happening with me a lot and so I started googling up a little bit only to come across something interesting!

This is precisely what the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon is about. It starts happening after you encounter something for the first time. Every next thing you see in your everyday life is then all about it. You see that product ad while scrolling through Instagram or see that brand’s sale ad on a billboard while crossing the road.

Am I the only one that feels creeped out? Like, have they installed cameras everywhere or what?

Don’t worry. There’s a scientific explanation behind it. This phenomenon is caused by two things:

1. Selective attention takes over. It means that you unconsciously keep an eye out for that product, brand, or series, and as a result, find it often.
2. You are blinded by confirmation bias. Each time you look at that product, you feel that it is proof that the thing has gained overnight popularity.

This can be an important lesson specially for marketers. Once someone hops on your website or sees your product, help them start seeing you everywhere. Send them retargeting ads, targeted emails and increase your chances of conversions.
