I^(We) - Why I enjoy speaking with IHers

I have some exciting news, I had my first meeting with another IHer!
In fact, over the past two weeks, I have had three meetings.
I contacted two people and one team reached out to me.

When I joined this community I wanted to see the products that other people were building, be inspired, hold myself accountable, and hopefully meet some great people along the way.

I really liked the idea presented in Startup of You of I^(We), which can be read as I to the power of We. They talk about how your network is a combination of who you know but is exponentially magnified by who your networks knows. Now, this isn't that new an idea, but I^(We) does illustrate the point nicely.

What I think is perhaps even more important in the We part of the equation is the quality of your connections. This is where I have found IHers really stand out. All three people I've chatted with are doing awesome things and were nice people. The businesses and personal stories I have read about on the community are top notch. That's pretty awesome.

I look forward to meeting more IHers, so if you ever want to connect, feel free to email me.

Also, I have found that there is some people who don't want to be cold emailed by other IHers. That is completely fair. I try to only reach out to people who meet either criteria:

  1. They are doing something specific that I keen to learn about.
  2. I think there is a clear mutually beneficially relationship possible.

I'd be interested to hear how you all reach out to other IHers? Or if you prefer not to, I'd be curious to know why?

Thanks for taking the time to hear my thoughts, I look forward to hearing yours!
