I will give you 3 Growth Hacking tips for Free

Hi Indie Hackers,
in the last post I've helped 50+ people giving them a feedback about their landing page and now I want to offer something more.

Today I've launched Growth Toolkit on PH, a database with 200+ Growth Hacks and 500+ Related Resources like Case Studies, Examples, Tools and Guides ๐Ÿ”ฅ

For this launch I want to give to this amazing community a special bonus: 3 Growth Hacks for your Business completely for Free.... It's also Christmas time ๐ŸŽ

How to get my advice?
1 - Comment with your link
2 - Add a small description of your idea and of your buyer persona
3 - Optional Maybe you can support me for the launch on Product Hunt (https://www.producthunt.com/posts/growth-toolkit) โค๏ธ

NB: this post has fewer upvotes than comments ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Maybe you can help to show this opportunity to the IH's Home Page ...

I hope you enjoy it ๐Ÿค™

    Ciao Marco,

Really curious to hear your advices on my silly product:

    1. https://freezingcam.com/
    2. Software that allows you to freeze your webcam. Buyer persona: University students, tech enthusiasts, more? ...
    3. Smashed the upvote button, btw the "bonus expires" countdown seem to be broken on your website.

      Hi Kevin,
I think many students will love you. Some hack:

      • Make a waiting list (Leaderboard Version): In your case, with your audience, could be the best choice to create a Viral Mechanism. I suggest you UpViral to do a Leaderboard with steroids.
      • Create blog posts about "how to cheat" + subject names
      • Improve your Instagram Presence. I saw you on Twitter, but probably your buyer persona is more on Instagram (this process could take more time)
      • Create a referral program and use Influencer Marketing: you can target YouTubers and Instagram stars offering them a % of each sale
      1. 1

Will give the, a try! Thanks Marco

Hey Marco ๐Ÿ‘‹, thanks for doing this.

Hereโ€™s an open source project that Iโ€™m on the core team for:

    Here is our website: https://fiwl-js.github.io

    Thanks so much!

      Hi Brayden,
your site is so cool. Just before speaking about Growth Hacking, what is your revenue model? Only donations?

      1. 1

Btw, I am the lead designer so I did the website :)

I โ€œhackedโ€ the default template for Docusaurus which is how we manage our docs. Just wanted to make it look a bit nicer and stand out to others.

      2. 1

Currently, yes. We are not planning to add a โ€œPaidโ€ plan. Itโ€™s all free :)

Once we finish the initial features and polish up the website, we plan to launch on HN, ProductHunt, and get some donations.

Do you have any tips for us? Thanks.

        1. 2

Yes, I have some suggestion. Try to collect more leads you can (at this moment you are linking directly to your Github page and bye-bye users).
Probably the best revenue source is a plan to create custom services with your library, but if you don't collect emails or contacts in general, you can not offer them anything.

If you think about the PH launch, I have to remember you that it is not sure and only a small % will give you money.

Create content, guides and other ways to collect prospect and sale your custom services on the future ๐Ÿค™

          1. 1

            Thanks so much!

  4. 2

Love that you're doing this! Just dropping by to say this but I'll be reading all tips.

    1. 1

Hi Alexandra, thanks for your nice comment... I hope you enjoy the tips (I know that sometimes I repeat them, but there is not any magic sauce).. I've also noticed that you are a content writer and this could be also an opportunity to get some new client :)

      1. 1

"there is not any magic sauce" - yes, preach!
"this could be also an opportunity to get some new client" - to be honest, I love creating editorial calendars for startups ^_^

Thanks, and cheers from Italy ๐Ÿ•

Ciao Marco, congratulations for your amazing tool. It seems amazing and your landing page looks nice. Here are my hacks:

      • Create a Blog: I know it's not a real "Hack", but there are so many arguments related to UI, Conversions, Feedbacks and so on and you can start a long term strategy for your SEO
      • Interview experts on this field: you can create a podcast about these arguments and you will have free content and articles for your site
      • Outreach your prospects: for this stragy use the three mandatory tools. SalesNavigator (or simply LinkedIn) for the prospects, Hunter.io to find email and Mailshake for your campaign [It's almost free]
      • BONUS: For the landing page: try to insert some logo or other social proof element above the line
      1. 1

Those are great suggestions! Thanks a lot for the appreciation, it means a lot!
Looking forward to see what you'll build next. Keep up the good work :)

Hi Justin, before speaking about Marketing and related stuff, some suggestion for your site:

      • Are you sure about having all these plans?
      • Try to use notification about recent purchases
      • Try to add a chat plugin to respond to all the doubts and sell more

      Growth Hacking and Marketing:

      • Advertising on Social Media giving a bunch of credits for Free as Lead Magnet
      • Give free credits to referrals (in your field Voilanorbert is doing that with great results)
      1. 1

        Thanks Macro for your suggestions.

Regarding plans, do you think it is too many plans? Please suggest me right number of plans.

Regarding purchase notifications, do you want us to show it on the site itself?

I will implement growth hacking suggestions. By the way, we already have Crispt chat in our site and dashboard.

I don't know your budget, but if you don't have so much to invest, I suggest you an outreach campaign:

      • Find local prospects using Google Maps or other paid tools to scrape local businesses
      • Use Builtwith to find companies that are using your competitors and contact them offering your better and cheaper solution

Tools to use: Hunter.io to find emails, Streak to track emails and Mailshaker for bigger campaign

  12. 1

    1- makesales.io
2- find & close your next 100 customers
    3- done, godspeed :)

3 - Just gave you an upvote on PH! ๐Ÿ‘

    1. 2

Thanks for the upvote Nathan. A quick strategy that I could suggest with a small budget:
1 - Scrape people who use Wordpress (I know that it is a huge list, but you can target companies from specific countries)
2 - Find information about these companies using Crunchbase (employees, market and other)
3 - Contact their founders, CTO or other people finding their emails using FindThatLead, Hunter.io or others and Streak to track all the emails and your pipeline

  14. 1

Interested to hear your thoughts on this - https://howtoproduct.co

It's courses for makers/no coders who need some assistance with product strategy

    1. 1

Robert your business has great potential and we can discuss about Marketing, Advertising, Funnels and so on, but a course priced at $9 is a steal ;)

My main suggestion is to Increase the Price and thanks to the higher profit you can:

      • Create a Funnel Marketing strategy (try to use Twitter and Reddit because they are cheaper than Facebook and there is space in your field)
      • If you have time (for High Ticket products), you can organize the funnel coming with a call and increase the Conversion Rate and Average Value
      • Boost your YouTube channel with tutorials in the NoCode, Startup and so on

      Hi Sai A,
your landing looks nice and the service seems cool too.

Here you can find some tips:

      • Scrape a list of Startups using Crunchbase (I suggest you the PRO version)
      • Target specific needs and use them as angles to sell the product, for example: Documentation for Developers, Docs for Sales Guys, Docs for Support Teams and so on... You can use these angles in your advertising activity or, in general, in your Marketing path
      • Start your Content Marketing activity (using the angles mentioned before)

    Hi Marco,

Just launched today a new website. Not yet finished though.

    1. https://noexperience.careers/
    2. Its basically a job board for people with no prior experience. I've heard a lot of people complaining about junior positions and internships requiring privious experience. How do I get people to visit this website and companies to post jobs here?
    3. Upvoted on producthunt. Thanks!
    1. 2

      Hi Daniel,
before going forward speaking about Marketing, it's time to speak about your product/service.
All the jobs are related to jobs that require experience :)

      Some hack:

      • Make your site different by other clones and launch on Product Hunt (remember to focus on increasing your newsletter)
      • Create content in your blog about jobs without experience: there are thousands of possible articles and after a couple of months you could have a good Content Marketing Machine for the organic traffic
      • Probably the first focus should be remote jobs in order to have a list of possible guys who can apply for all (or almost) the position. Once you have 1k or more subscribers, you could reach companies with open positions and sell your service
      1. 1

Thanks. What do you mean by "All the jobs are related to jobs that require experience ". That there are no jobs that require zero experience?
I am trying to target graduate programs and on-job training internships.

        1. 1

In the listed jobs there are:

          • Senior Creative at Twitch
          • Senior Product Manager at Webflow
            ....
These are jobs that require a LOT of experience :)
          1. 1

Yeah got it. Data has not yet been changed. Working on that. Thanks for the advice.

2 - millenials with some disposable income and an interest in sustainability.
    3 - done.

I'm really having a harder time than thought developing the growth channels for this product. Tons of positivity, few sign ups. Any feedback welcome.

    1. 1

Hi @adonic, this is cool! A few thoughts:

      Marketing

      • definitely makes sense to offer points for referrals to encourage sharing
      • spreading the word in green/environmental communities online
      • working with influencers and newsletters to reach large audiences. You should be able to persuade them to offer substantial discounts/free sharing because it's a good cause
      • allow users to share milestones on social with premade shareable templates for 'stories'
      • I'm not an expert in the good cause space, but maybe look at some case studies of charitable ventures/good causes that have done well and use some similar techniques

      Landing page

      • there's a lot going on here. It's a bit overwhelming, and not breaking the journey out into steps also makes it harder to know at which part of your funnel or offering is leading users to drop off
      • I'd suggest testing a soft CTA of 'Calculate my emissions' or something. Then lead to a page with just the calculator, which in turn points the user to a pricing page based on their final calculation
      • 'Join a team, earn rewards' - do you actually need to join a team to get rewards? If not, I'd just right 'get rewards' here. It's cleaner and people might be put off by the fact that they need to recruit others to get the benefit of rewards
      • love the wording around 'like air miles, but you're helping the environment'
    2. 1

      Great Idea, some suggestion:

      • Make your rewards more relevant and link them to a referral marketing machine (you can use Viral Loops or Upviral integrating them with your system)
      • Influencer Marketing is the king in this field
  19. 1

Hi Ran, I remember your software from a previous post offering a free landing page audit :)

      Anyway, some Growth Hacking strategy:

      • Use "built with" or similar to your tool in order to improve your awareness
      • Contact twitter influencers who daily share links and offer the tool for free
      • Contact blog authors with the same strategy
      • Improve the product and try a Life Time Offer (not on AppSumo) and you can reinvest all the revenues from the launch
      • Find people who are using Wordpress and Ghost (you can use Builtwith or similar sites) and offer a longer free trial
  20. 1

    1 - www.essteem.com
2 - Equalithons (hackathons for equality) to help startups and tech companies hire diverse talent while having teams work on their business solutions or a CSR initiative.
Buyer persona- Startup founders with funding or tech companies committed to creating an inclusive and impactful work culture.
    3. Will do!

    1. 2

Hi Marie, the idea behind the project is great and I love your initiative, but...

      • I suggest you to improve the quality of your site (some parts are cool, but other ones are not "modern")
      • Interview employees from the groups of people you would help and use these interviews for your Content Marketing machine: video + podcast + transcript
      • Create a community around your site (you can use Slack, Facebook or other), organizing webinar and meeting every month

When you will have enough power and users, you can go to Founders speaking about your project ;)

      2. 1

got a freelancer to do it.

        1. 1

Hi Jil, the idea is interesting but before speaking about Marketing and related stuff, I would suggest you improve your landing page (in order to make it "more professional").
          Some suggestion about that:

          • Improve video quality: the idea behind the video is cool, but it doesn't look so professional
          • Add icons when you speak about Features (avoiding the text-wall effect)
          • Change illustrations: they seem free stocks images and they are not professional
          • Find testimonials and add them on the landing page
          • Personally, I don' like the main colour palette
          1. 1

thanks @MarcoGurnari we are already working on the landing page upgrade, and it shall be up in a week. In fact, you are pretty spot on, in terms of feedback, we had interviewed about 20 marketers and got similar feedback. All of it is WIP.

Would love to hear your thoughts on marketing.

    3. I upvoted it
This list looks awesome I would upvote anyway without this free service. Thanks
    1. 2

      Hi Mateo,
      the idea is cool, but...

      • Write in more places that are templates for React or other platforms
      • Create more attractive templates (and improve graphics on the Gumroad pages)
      • Make Templates similar to famous sites: it's the same strategy used by SheetToSite and similar ones
      • Create a gallery of templates for different purposes: template for a developer, for a saas owner, for e-commerce or other templates
      • Create a bundle of free templates and use it for a Lead Generation activity and using it as a Lead Magnet
      • Start with Reddit Advertising: it's cheap and you could target developers
      • Check the Pricing: it's so cheap and it will be difficult to generate profit
      1. 1

woww , amazing tips!!! thanks a lot .

  26. 1

I wanted to upvote, without posting a comment, so the upvote/comment ratio would go up, but than I could not have told you about it!
Sorry this comment is not really helpful...up until now!

I'm currently trying to grow a background music channel on YouTube..so a) not a new product b) an horrible unoriginal idea and c) a super competitive market

So if you have ANY idea how to grow it, I'm thankful, even tho I know that's not what this was about, but that's my project for now: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiRjDPTj8RzrS8846HOQ-Yg

The "big picture" is to document my efforts and put it into a blog where I talk about the various steps I took and the issues I ran into along the way...

      Hi man,
I've noticed that you are creating a Podcast and Blog (and obviously I suggest you to add more content there). My suggestions would be more focused on the landing page, in order to increase your conversion rate:

      • You are providing videos: use a better video for your site, inserting more examples and so on (be inspired by your competitors)
      • You claim to have 1000+ users, but there is no social proof. Use logos and testimonials in the first part of the site
      • Speak more about possible results, like "Marco gained 1000 followers with one video" or "earned $2000 with one video". In this way, you are speaking directly with your buyer persona
      • Create a library of free videos and launch it on PH as Side Project: you can collect thousands of new users with just this trick
      1. 1

Hey @MarcoGurnari . Thanks a lot for the feedback.

Great point about posting a better video, I will work on it.

Regarding the testimonials part, again a valid point. Will work on making it look more trustworthy. The 3rd point resonates with it as well.

We are working on a Producthunt launch for the main product but launching a Side Project of free videos would be a great idea as well. Will see what can be done here.

Again thanks a lot for the valuable feedback

    Thank you for this opportunity:

1 - Comment with your link

2 - Add a small description of your idea and of your buyer persona

Ans: Lifetimo is the largest curated directory for Lifetime Deals. Buyer Persona: Digital Marketers , entrepreneurs or Indiehackers who are looking for great deals on SaaS tools, WordPress themes, plugins etc.

3 - Optional Maybe you can support me for the launch on Product Hunt.

Ans: Already did. Best wishes. :)

    1. 2

      Hi man,
I love the idea (and the name).

      Here some suggestion for you:

      • Fix some problem on the landing page (there are graphical issues related to the logos)
      • Make the sales pages shorter: I like the meme on the home page, but inserting all these elements in the sales page too could be not the right decision (A/B test if you have enough traffic)
      • Giveaway, giveaway, giveaway: the same AppSumo's strategy that you can replicate completely for free. Contact directly the founders of the companies you are featuring, asking for a free copy (you can do it directly on your web page and on twitter too)
      • Improve your email marketing activity: I don't have info about this part of your Marketing activity, but you should do that. Use ActiveCampaign or other "more professional" tools to segment all the activities

I hope they can be useful for you and, in this case, please support help this post to reach the home page ;)

    1. 1

      Hi man,
your product looks very cool. Here you can find some hack:

      • Blog: I've noticed that you have a blog, but you are using it more for updates and features. Publish more posts about related arguments in order to create a solid Content Marketing machine
      • Builtwith Strategy: You have several integrations and this is great. Download a list of sites that are using that tools and contact them speaking about your integration and your amazing service
      • Cold Email: I don't know if you have the budget for advertising, but it's better to reach your ideal customers directly using emails (in the proper way). I suggest you Hunter.io to find emails, SalesNavigator to find your prospects and Mailshake to create great outreach campaign.

I hope they can be useful for you and, in this case, please support help this post to reach the home page ;)

      Hi Haris,
the product seems cool, but before speaking about Marketing I would suggest optimization of your Landing Page. Here some tips:

      • Live Demo seems a button for a video popup
      • Improve the quality of your subheadline (I speak about copy and style)
      • Make the headline bigger
      • Try to offer special offers for the yearly version
      • The section "How it works" doesn't look nice: the columns are not wide enough
      • Find testimonials
      • Create examples and possible applications of your service
      • and many others ๐Ÿค™
      1. 1
