Idea: App that helps you make friends through group chats

Hi everyone, just found this amazing resource and wanted to share an idea I'm trying to validate.

https://www.flockapp.social/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=IndieHackers&utm_campaign=1

My girlfriend and I are very different people (I'm introverted, she's very sociable), but we found that we both struggled to make friends as adults.

You don't have a lot of spare time, and most people already have established social circles that are very hard to break into. Although there are many 'friendship dating' apps out there (like Bumble BFF), you have to spend ages swiping though profiles and maintaining 1-1 conversations. Not to mention that most of them are angled towards women.

Lastly, we found that it's easier to make friends in a group context, as there are normally shared interests and less pressure on each person to drive conversation.

Our idea: what if there was an app that made finding friends easier by matching you into a small, newly created group chat based on your interests and criteria (e.g. age, gender, location, time commitment).

We have started developing it in our spare time, and we also created a landing page to explain the concept.

Would be grateful for any feedback, thoughts and suggestions. Thanks!
