If you build in public, do you explicitely name your users?

As I'm starting to get traction with Exportator I feel more credible in sharing my builder's journey in a public.

I'm OK with sharing (some) of my behind-the-scenes, but what about things/data related to users? More specifically, when it's about one user ?

My gut feeling is that it is absolutely NOT ok to talk about the tooling one's using in private. At least not without their consent.

How do you do it?

I'd love your take on why you'd mention a user, how you'd do it, how to do it in a win-win fashion, or any other thing that comes to mind around this topic.

As someone building in public, do you explicitly talk about specific users/customers?
  1. Yes, I mention their names
  2. I talk about them but anonymously
  3. I ask for permission before doing it
  4. No, I do not talk about specific people
  5. Something else
