Hi there.
IndieLetters.com is a bi-weekly briefing of marketing knowledge, tools & learning resources for solopreneurs, and makers like YOU!
Are you in Quora marketing? Missing each question stats, checkout Q-stats extension that shows total views, average monthly views, followers, and ranking opportunity.
Chrome 85 has just been released and Google changed its default referrer policy to strict-origin-when-cross-origin. All web analytics tools will have reduced granularity in the referral sources data. Analytics will still be able to show the referral source of your traffic but only on the domain level rather than the full URL:

Use autofocus to increase conversions (example page)
Even a tiny amount of friction can hurt your opt-in rate. Use autofocus to remove friction by putting your visitors' attention (and cursor) where you want it.
A simple HTML trick called autofocus will put each visitor's cursor into the email input box automatically when they arrive on your landing page. Sure, it's a pretty minor improvement, but it's quick and easy. And every little bit helps.

Increase engagement by adding estimated read time to your content
When Brian Cray added estimated reading times to his articles, overall time on site increased by 13.8%. And he got more engagement to boot --- subscribes, follows, and retweets increased by a total of 66.7%. If you're thinking that this might scare people away from longer posts, Dave Ross found that it actually decreased his bounce rate on articles over 1,000 words by 13%. And that adds up.
So choose a platform that calculates ERT automatically or add it yourself by dividing the word count by an adult's average reading speed (~250 words per minute)

How Louis landed two agency clients for his software by @loutromans
Subject: Are You Being Replaced?
"Hey [INSERT AGENCY OWNER NAME]!
YES. This is a 'cold' email, but I thought we could get a little snug?
The subject line is right. Spread is replacing you. I'm sorry.
Good news is that instead of being replaced, you can make use of your new enemy!!!!
Spread is a content repurposing tool that allows users to automate the majority of their content marketing. Sounds hella neat yeah? Not so much for content marketing agencies like yourself. Except when you realise you can now up-sell a new service to every client...
You can use Spread to (nearly) instantly triple the content you create for each client. Instantly repurpose every video into a podcast, every podcast into a blog, and every blog into a twitter thread. You could do this as a part of a packaged content deal, or offer repurposing as a single stand-alone service to your clients!
Check out the signup page for the BETA here
We're trying to get marketing agencies like yourself on as soon as possible so we don't steal too many customers from you. You'll be the third one to come on this week.
After the BETA we are going to open up the platform to marketing agencies on a specific pricing tier that will allow for for your entire team to use and abuse Spread :)
Let me know if you have any questions

Double your prices by @Brendancahill_
Price reflects status, not utility. Even if someone buys your lowest end product, that product should still provide the same usefulness as your most expensive item.
For example, if you're selling three tiers of a gym membership, the low end and high-end service will both get you in shape. But those who buy the high-end service will create more status in their *own *eyes.
Price isn't rational. It's best thought of as a product feature just as important as the product itself.
If charging a high price truly makes a client feel better about themselves and truly get *more value *as they see it, then you have a duty to raise your rates.
