I'll review your SaaS onboarding for Free!

Hey folks!

My name is John… and I am a Product-Led Growth addict - Hi John 👋

I run a small, bootstrapped consultancy called Proxii that helps SaaS companies improve onboarding, reduce time-to-value, and become Product-led.

I’m looking for some SaaS recommendations or volunteers 👀 for a new video series I’m doing called “Getting to Aha! In 10-Minutes or Less”.

In each video I’m going to record myself moving from landing page > sign up > a ha! moment. Along the way I’ll give my general feedback and thoughts.

If I do enough, I might even create a leaderboard for the fastest times. 🏁

If you’d like me to feature your SaaS company’s product or if you’d like me to feature one of your favorite SaaS tools, reply with your landing page URL or recommendation!

  1. 2

Nice idea! I would like to help you with your YouTube channel.
By looking at your YT channel, your SEO is not that great, people aren't looking for the keywords you use "getting to aha" and I would also improve the thumbnails.

I'm not an expert but I have a channel with 600+ subs most of it is failures but now I can pretty much identify when a video will rank good and get traction or not.
Anyway if it sounds interesting let's talk:)

Hey @JonathanMiz you are 1,000% right on with the quick analysis. Like most creators/founders that are new to a skill/platform, we're educating ourselves every day on best practices, etc. but still I've found the best way to learn and grow is by falling on my face!

I've got a bunch of notes and ideas for how we're going to change and improve moving forward but still I'd love the opportunity to pick your brain and get your feedback! Shooting you a note on LinkedIn!

Awesome, I’ll knock it out! Got more requests than anticipated but I’ll get to it I promise haha

        1. 1

Hey @YvetteAhono, I'm having some trouble confirming my email address for sign up - it's asking for an email one-time-password but I'm not receiving it in my inbox. Any tips here? Thanks!

    Night at the hut, John.

    Here's project - https://pixiko.com/

Not so long ago, we updated the editor interface and added many features, such as filters, fonts, effects. Also starting work on audience retention by emailing & social media.

    1. 1

Thanks Kinga, I’ll get to it but it might take a day or two - got more requests than anticipated!

    Hi John,

Ours is https://www.uclusion.com - but its not really finished yet. We are working now on a walk through video and the website's screen shots have to be redone at a minimum. On the other hand the product is pretty mature and you can check out the onboarding inside it also.

If you are willing to help out so early on it would be very useful to us in avoiding churn later.

    Thank you very much,
    David

    1. 1

Hey! Yes, I’ll take that into consideration but will definitely still provide you with some early feedback. ,cheers!

Would love this! Feel free to use code EARLYMP at checkout to get in for free!

Hi! Thanks for this :) Mine is makers-db.com

You got it Rod! Adding Makersdb to the queue!

Hi John, thank you so much for your generosity.
As of now we haven0t had any complains, so maybe we have a very big problem!

Awesome - adding Sturppy to the queue to do! Cheers

        1. 1

Alright @filippo_b good things come to those who are patient right?! Sorry this took a while to put together... but here's our review of Sturppy! https://youtu.be/7GaV7CNHeqk

Check it out and if you find it useful, let us know how you're thinking about implementing some of the feedback! Really enjoyed creating the review (apologies for creating a half dozen test accounts!). Enjoy!

          1. 3

Hey @JohnatProxii I've just watched the video with the team and we LOVED it!

It is extremely well done and super detailed on our product no just some generic advice, I can see that you wasted some time on it.

I almost feel bad for receiving it for free.

            1. 2

Filippo! I'm so glad your team enjoyed the review. It's free but now you're on the hook to keep us up to date with what you're doing next and letting us know about any other growth problems or issues we can help you with! Cheers!

  9. 2

    Hey John,

Really appreciate your generosity! Over the last month, we have onboarded over a thousand users. Having talked to them, I have already encountered some areas of improvement, but having a Pro like yourself go over it as well is an opportunity I can't miss!

    Here's the website: https://gocopy.io

Looking forward to learning about all the ways we can improve it :)

    1. 2

Awesome Brent, I’m on it! Will post back here with the link today

  10. 2

Hey John, would love to see what you think of my onboarding process - I kind of know it's a little clunky but have been focused on other things. My website is fastasarocket.com - really appreciate it!

    1. 1

Thanks Cameron! Will dive in an post the link back here.

  11. 2

Cool offer! Would love if you could give www.rows.com a look. Where can we find the results once you've gone over our site?

    1. 1

Hey hey, thanks! Adding Rows to the queue! I will post a link back here when I'm done with it. Thinking since I've got quite a few in the queue now I'll spin up a YT channel and post them there.

      1. 3

@Reeatrows it took a minute for us to throw this one together, but here it is! https://youtu.be/gfm60jslAZY - if you're a Rows employee, let me know if you thought the feedback was helpful. Super cool tool the team at Rows.com has built! My co-founder Diego is a big fan!

        1. 3

Hey John! I do indeed work at Rows :) Your video was super helpful! We've already shared it with the team. Thanks for taking the time to go through our product.

I do have one question for Diego, if you don't mind!

One of our team members has a question in regards to using the PARSE function to reference another cell as part of the query. Diego said this took about 30-45 minutes to figure out!

How could this have been simplified or made better?

I hope you guys also found Rows useful and continue to use our product! We also have a Community Template page, so if you or Diego build something with Rows and think it would be useful to our community, we could definitely set that up, giving credit to you or course :)

If you ever have any questions about Rows, please do feel free to reach out to me! I'd be very happy to chat.

Thanks again- that was really helpful. Loved the video!

          1. 3

            Hey @Reeatrows!

First off I think Rows is awesome and will be using it in the future! Here’s what I think could have helped me to get to my aha moment faster:

The “Filtering with JsonPath” doc could add a small section about using cell references as part of the JsonPath query expression. The problem wasn’t that I couldn’t figure out how to reference the cell containing the JSON object, or that I couldn’t get the query to pull anything I wanted when I typed out the path manually. The problem is was that as an excel user, I’m used to writing a formula once referencing multiple cells and then using ctrl D or ctrl R to automatically apply the formula to other cells, and that wasn’t covered in the JsonPath doc directly linking from the tooltip.

            For example:

            Easy to figure out:
            =PARSE($B$2,"['bpi'].['USD'].['rate']")
            Harder to figure out:
            =PARSE($B$2,"['bpi']"&C2&"['rate']") where C2 contains ‘USD’

From an excel perspective, I wanted to have a column with ‘USD, GBP, EUR’ each in their own cells, write the formula once for USD in adjacent column, and then ctrl D the formula down. That’s a natural action for excel users that I think may have been slightly lost in the docs.

My email is [email protected] so if you or anyone from the product team would like to go further in detail, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

            1. 1

Thanks so much for answering our question! I've passed all this info on to our team.

Keep up with those great videos :D

          2. 3

Hey @Reeatrows glad you and the team found it useful! Diego's here on IH too and would be happy to provide the product/growth team with some further feedback. I let him know and he'll follow on this thread.

Really cool tool that you all have built and we're excited to follow your growth journey in becoming the anti-google sheets ;)

If you or the team have any other questions or follow-ups, you know how to find me! Cheers

            1. 2

Thanks so much for your insight, John!
And thank for your kind words,- I'm also excited to watch our growth journey ;) Your video series is top! I'll keep my eye on those as well! :D

Hi Jon. This is an awesome idea. I would be very grateful if you could try https://organisely.app

We are big believers in product-led growth and we are trying to make the onboarding flow be very self-serving.

    How are we doing?

    1. 2

Ahh speaking my language, love to hear you and the team are bought in on the PLG movement! Adding Organisely to the queue! Will post back here when I have yours done. Cheers!
