I'm building a SaaS app, thanks to Wunderlist shutdown

I'm building a SaaS app, thanks to Wunderlist shutdown by Microsoft.

I loved Wunderlist simplicity to manage my client projects – even though Microsoft tries to convince me that To-Do is the same thing, I can't get used to it.

Funny enough, most of my clients also felt that taste of "it's the same... but it's not the same at all!".

Now I'll use some free time between my client projects – that is, nights and weekends – to build my own wunderlist(ish) app, with a flavor of my own.

My plan is to write updates in here to track my own progress and make it public for some accountability. Let's do it!

Hey, I'd recommend to focus on distribution as well:

    a) Can you rank/bid on search terms like "Wunderlist alternative" (I already see some companies doing that)

    b) Respond to people on Twitter mentioning 'wunderlist'

    c) Contact bloggers who have linked to Wunderlist, suggest to link to you as well, saying the Wunderlist link is a non-functional one

    d) See what people complain about Microsoft ToDo (you can get a lot of insights on Twitter) and use that as your strong points

    Good luck!

      a) Bingo! My post title and narrative included "Wunderlist" on purpose. I knew that many other would feel this gap, since every client of mine felt the difference when we migrated to Microsoft To-Do

b, c & d) Just added these steps in my marketing notebook, thank you SO MUCH for the insights!!! ❤️

I remember when Wunderlist first came out, it was amazing. I got put off when they got acquired. 🤷🏽‍♀️

      1. I'll use PHP (Laravel) on the back and Vanilla JS on the front. The layout will be powered by TailwindCSS (switched from Bootstrap a while ago and never looked back).

      2. My plan is to build a consumer facing website which will interface (optionally) with my SaaS as a backoffice. So, the users of this consumer website will always be remembered about the product – whether they use it or not. I won't disclose the nature of this website just yet, as I have to niche it down to a specific market 1st (I got a lot of options and don't want to lose myself targeted everything at once).
