I'm working on something a little different, and I'm starting today.

IH is a super inspiring place, I love seeing all the amazing ideas and shared stories of trials and tribulations, wins and loses, but everything is Product, SaaS and Services.

Don't get me wrong, that's how I make my living and it's a scene I love. However, I want to start somet

Hey Chris - I would love to follow your progress on this. I have followed you on Instagram. :)

I hope you will come back here daily to let us know about what is happening. And how could support you.

You could also add it as a product and log your milestones or stories there.

Oh yeah, great idea :) I was planning to add the product but had forgotten there was also the milestone part of it. Is there are particular guidance regarding what should be deemed milestones on IH? I guess it's quite personal maybe.

Thanks for following on instagram, day two here I come!

I ran a non-profit for a while. It is kind of a brutal experience. You raise a million dollars, deploy it for 2 million dollars of benefit. Then the next year do it again. No built in growth.

A business on the other hand, you raise a million dollars, deploy it for 2 million dollars of benefit, then the next year deploy the 2 million for 4 million dollars of benefit.

An overly simplistic view, but I find that businesses are a great way to affect the change you want as well.

    Good luck on your project!

Thanks @joshdance - I agree, lots of different approaches, though it's hard to imagine people identifying with a for-profit business that was fighting climate change I imagine, though not impossible :) What happened with the non-profit you ran previously in the end?

      1. 1

I strongly identify with a for-profit business that is fighting climate change. :) I love the idea of positive feedback loops. If you find something that works, you can do it more and more. Vs non-profits have limits.

I closed it down. We weren't having as big an impact as I wanted and I was trying to finish college. :)

        1. 1

Yeah, it's so hard really to have impact, I really don't know how much I can make, but I do know that there's loads of people who think they can't do much individually and hopefully I can channel that someway :) I'll certainly have more impact getting people to pool resources for a few causes than my current status quo most evenings which = watching netflix haha

Good for you! This is cool, I’m excited to see what you are up to. I don’t think people don’t give a damn, it’s just that when your country is doing everything you don’t want it to do it’s hard not to feel defeated. I know there are a lot of good people doing a lot of things to try and make a difference- it’s just that we don’t hear about it. Anyway, no IG here but wishing you all the best on this!

Thanks, I'll share my progress on IH too if you want to check on progress here instead, IG's not for everyone and I suspect I'll get better advice from people in this community on many things.

You're right about people caring, they definitely do, it just feels like the level of engagement or interest from those that I know doesn't match the scale of the problem. I have some friends that admit to experiencing 'climate anxiety' whilst also seemingly being unable to act, because they feel like it's pointless to doing anything as one person. I recognise that feeling but I'm determined to do something, anything really, especially if it brings those individuals together!
