I recently chatted with Matt Stauffer from the software development agency Tighten (Matt also wrote Laravel Up and Running which is a great book!), we talked all about being a developer starting an agency, his experiences and recommendations, an also the not-so-awesome parts.
If anyone is interested in starting their own custom software agency then this is a good read, and if you have not checked out Dev to Agency before hopefully you find the whole site is aimed at you! :)

PS - For the last couple of months Dev to Agency has been all about my experience going from software dev to agency owner - but I realised quite quickly that I don't have all the answers - hence why I invited Matt for an interview.
If anyone else knows (or is!) a software developer that is running a software agency, I would love to have a chat, and if interested an interview on the site.
There is lot of info out there if you're a programmer wishing to start a SaaS company, but not so much if you're a programmer wishing to start and grow an agency.
