Is an accountant necessary for a fast-growing SaaS startup?

We have an SaaS company selling annual licenses to individuals, both public and private schools, and companies in 20+ states. We recently experienced very quick growth in sales and are trying to get a handle over things.

We are looking for a solution that covers nexus, filing, etc. for our company. Is a software that integrates with stripe (where all our sales are) like TaxJar enough, or do we need a human accountant? Can TaxJar and their support take care of everything we need?

It's not necessary, but it can help you for sure. I can say that from my own experience cause I wanted to do everything on my own when I started my own business. It wasn't a good mindset cause it's impossible to be a specialist in everything. Especially when it came to important stuff like taxes, it was a struggle the first month when I had no one to ask. I kept calling different accounting companies to ask random questions, but I soon realized that I needed a professional for my own business. I got in contact with an amazing accountant from Szweda Consulting https://szwedaconsulting.com/ and everything went super smooth from there. It's not mandatory, but it can sure help.

Part of having an accountant is having someone who has answered these questions and more before you have even thought of them. Given things are going well you should be able to afford a startup friendly accountant who operates as a service to handoff all this too so you can focus your energy elsewhere. Best of luck.
