Is giving lifetime access for some price a good idea?

Products keep changing from time to time and founders put effort to improve the product. Draining out all the monetary value at once by giving lifetime access doesn't make sense in that case, what is your opinion?

    I'd say if it's a truly over-time improving product then consumers are willing to pay a recurring fee (e.g. I am 100% willing to pay for the Adobe Cloud). If it's not improving and there is no personal attachment to the product, e.g. a subscription to a Twitch streamer), then I'd anticipate a lower customer lifetime value.
    Just a theory though, I'd recommend a quick google scholar search for research findings.

    I would only do it in the very early stages of the product and only if I needed the short-term revenue to make it possible to pursue or validate the business.
