Is this too cheeky?

Is the brand too cheeky? Also, thoughts about the service?

I'm working on visual-content-as-a-service project. It's filling the gap between Upwork/Fiverr and the design agencies market with ~$99 price point.

I chose the brand name "Livegraf" based on its .com domain availability. But last night I suddenly had a 'brilliant' idea to call it "Uglivy". The positioning will be like 'Our website is ugly because our designers are busy working for you'.

(The idea is a bit like a barber in a small town. The best barber has the worst haircut.)

Also it's a wordplay on Ogilvy, a famous marketing agency.

Is it too cheeky? Should I stick with Livegraf?

Also - the website is live now (but the buttons are still not working) - uglivy.com - please let me know your thoughts about the service!

    Too cheeky.

    I’m very familiar with olgivy but I didn’t draw the connection until you mentioned it, so I think it might be lost on others too.

    Also i don’t know if you are serious on making your website ugly, but I think that would be detrimental to your credibility for a design audience.

    I like the ugly website gag, and it sounds like you do too. That's reason enough to give it a shot imo!

    I think the key is to make it feel totally intentional. An over-the-top classic-Geocities aesthetic comes to mind. If your customers read it as a joke, then you come across as confident, funny, and imaginative. If it seems like you're actually trying to convince them that you don't care about your own website, that's just offputting.

    Naming the project "Uglivy" could make sense if you're 100% committed to the ugly aesthetic, but even then a name that literally invokes "ugly" seems questionable to me. What happens in 3 years if you want to try a new strategy for your site?

    I for one, made the Ogilvy connection almost immediately. I think it is quite clever. 'Uglivy' is far more likely to stick in my mind than 'Livegraf' and it is also something that I will go out of my way to tell my designer friends about.

      Thanks for the feedback! I also thought it's much more memorable, but not sure if it's worth the potential detriment coming from it.

    it's kinda funny. but perhaps it shouldn't be your leading item.

    it looks like you're selling video ads and blog graphics.

    so i think you need to make that clear (and maybe make this joke further down your landing page)

    Lol that headline cracked me up. I'm not sure about the "best barber has the worst haircut though". Personally, when I saw that headline, I expected a "just kidding" page with an amazing design as I scrolled, but that's just me. But anyway, a really unique headline.
