[It's back!] 🔥🔥Post your SAAS landing page and I'll do a two min video review this week (50 slots)

UPDATE: Due to the massive number of requests can I ask that you please follow me on Twitter before submitting your request -- @helloitsolly

After a crazy number of requests last time around, I'm back.

I'm going to review 50(!) SAAS landing pages this week. Just post the link to your SAAS landing page and I will respond with a 5 min video review.

I'm a London-based marketing expert working with several bootstrapped and seed-funded startups.

You need to do something about your site speed. It's pretty horrendous. You'll lose a lot of visitors before they even read what you have to say.

It took 10 seconds to load for me (fast connection) and has a site score of 3/100 on PageSpeed insights which claims it took it 15 seconds to load.

You probably want to look into how you are hosting this, and see if you can get a faster host, and look at what that magJsonCallback is doing because that seems quite slow. And generally try to get asset sizes down is good (for people on 3G or poor 4G connections).

A page with so little on it should load in less than a second and probably can be delivered in under 100kb instead of 4000kb of assets. I'd be interested in how you generated this site, is it some kind of landing page builder?

Note - if the page seems fast to you, it might be because the site and it's assets have already been downloaded into the cache, but brand new visitors won't have it cached. It only gets cached after the first visit.

      1. 3

Hey man! Thank you so much for letting me know. I built this website with Readymag.com. Seems like I need to change hosting...

        1. 1

Good idea, even their sales page is slow!

Before you switch, test out the page speed with https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/ and I guess you want something 80 or more. 100 takes some dedicated work to achieve.

Normally you can get a URL that isn't on your domain first for testing/preview, then once you know they are fast, switch and test again on your own domain.

There is a indie hacker offering very fast hosting but I don't recall their name but maybe search for that. Hopefully someone can chime in and remind me!

Do you know if your website is up and responsive for your clients? From Europe? From Asia? Do you know if your daily database backup failed today? Do you know if your server utilizes too much CPU, RAM or disc space?

Strange. It loads relatively fast for me. What browser are you using?

      1. 1

@olly, that was such a useful roast, thank you so much. I was expecting a harsher reception to be honest! 😅

You raised some great points, especially the Chrome extension... I have been toying with the idea. I just need to figure out what the best way forward is with that. Perhaps a LastPass style email generator using the Paced Email aliases...

I definitely need more in the way of use cases/pain points - so thanks for reinforcing that need. I'm planning on actioning that very soon.

        Cheers!

      @JVillella Hi Julian

Here you go. I like the idea but you need testimonials and more vivid details about the service to convert. Do you have a product already? https://www.loom.com/share/14a33c768ceb401e81b2aded03a4378d

Hey Oliver, thank you very much for your feedback !

Interesting points indeed. Few questions to make sure I got it right :

        • Dont' you think focusing on the differences between our product and some big competitors (like ahrefs/semrush as you mentioned) would make users who do not necessarily know those competitors already miss the features that we have in common ? As those are the core product, even though we have differentiators there's lot of common points on the basis. Should I skip that basis ?
        • As the app have multiple screens, all offering values in different ways, how would you choose the "main" screenshot that we could show in the top of the landing page ?

Thanks again and I'm taking notes of everything else you said for the future iterations

      Awesome!! thanks :)

http://userreplay.com - just completely redesigned, would love to hear what you think :)

      1. 1

Thanks so much for the review! Agree with you that perhaps too word heavy and light on specific use cases / testimonials on the front page. Got a bit carried away with describing features! Key customers tend to be larger ecommerce sites who want to find UX issues with their site. The product helps them find things that are wrong then put a $ value on the impact of the issue. Will try and make that a bit clearer.

      1. 1

That was quick, thank you for taking time to do that! Appreciate the feedback, will incorporate it into the next version.

This feedback was actually really great to hear - I loved your expression when you figured out it was for a game!

The product is meant to replace pen and paper for tabletop RPGs for games like dungeons and dragons - right now I specifically just support PF1e, which is a variant of dnd.

I will definitely bring the CTA higher - your explanation for it made a lot of sense! I'll leave the one at the bottom, too, but it'll be good to let people who land on the page get started right away.

I also appreciated your commentary on visual feeling - indeed there's currently a lack of color, character, and personality in the application that I agree would suit the domain well. Sharability was also a great call-out; it's actually an easy feature for me to add so I will probably prioritize that to help with growth.

Thank you so much for your time!!
