Hi guys,
I'm preparing for a meeting with 2 startup founders and want to pitch them the possibility to work together.
One of the founders is a friend and he asked me for professional advice in the past (that I was very happy to give for free).
They hired 40 people in Asia and they develop technology in the area of telecommunications. They work with a few major banks and got into high-value partnerships. I have a high belief in their potential and their eventual success.
I am a data professional. I am an employee of a top-tier multinational and managing data scientists, engineers, and analysts.
The startup company doesn't have a data team yet and no data experience or leadership (this is also, why the founder is consulting me from time to time).
I want to work with them, while still keeping my day job. I started writing a proposal prior to our meeting this week. This proposal is a brain dump that I would like to refine and eventually share with the founders.
<Here is the proposal:>
I will join your firm as an advisor.
I will agree to work for X hours per week to improve the business, taking on myself a number of responsibilities:
a. Evaluate client demands on Data/AI/Analytics related needs. This may include meeting with clients and research.
b. Exploration of data assets from the platform and from clients.
c. Proposal of new use cases and analysis of feasibility (both on the technological and the economical level).
d. Creation of a road map with prioritization on the development of new Data/AI/Analytics products for your client.
e. Development of experiments and POCs to assess data and solutions.
f. Help you to pitch ideas to clients and investors.
We will set up a trial period of X months. This is only a formality and both sides will be free to stop the collaboration with an X-weeks notice.
During the time of the advisership, my work will be compensated with fee and/or equity (X).
If we are happy to continue the work together, I will join you as a junior partner with the title Chief Data Officer.
<End of the proposal>
Let me know your thoughts.
