I’m curious to get some input on this.
I’m a daytrader of 15 years, with 10 being full time. Mostly futures, but experienced in stocks and forex; no clients, no fund, no social media influence, and strictly solo.
I am looking to start something in my industry. I currently have no passive income outside of trading and long-term investments, and am considering some options going forward. Trading can be an isolating industry and my goal would be to create some actual value for others going forward.
I’m considering knowledge selling, but with some brief market research, it seems there is a lot of snake-oil courses, books, and signal selling out there via youtube, udemy, etc. As someone experienced in the industry, it takes about 5 minutes to see the b.s. So the industry is a bit slimy in regards to teaching, and the idea of competing with that is off-putting.
I want to see if anyone has any input regarding this industry, or ‘knowledge selling’ in general, and what they’ve made of it. Which direction did you decide on? Is becoming a ‘thought leader’ before selling a necessary step? Is recurring revenue ever an option, as opposed to selling a one-time course? Is validation actually possible?
Cheers!
Maybe starting a YouTube channel and/or writing Medium articles where you explain what's wrong with strategy abc of course xyz would be a way to get started? I'd definitely guess you would need an email list (ie being a thought leader) before you can sell, otherwise there's noone to sell to. Mby I'm wrong, let me know how it goes
