Landing page feedback before launch

Hello all, it is my first time building a landing page and I would appreciate all feedback before we launch. The link is: https://festapi.io

Some background information / key areas of interest:

  • The website is built entirely "by hand" line by line, i.e. no landing page generators / ready blocks of html/css or such have been used. I am not sure how people generally approach this and if there are any major benefits / fallbacks from doing so?
  • I am quite content with it. However, the thing that bugs me a little is if it is too text heavy (the font is also quite small compared to other landing pages I see). My concern is primarily related to the 2nd and 3rd kind of blocks ("Join the democratization of APIs" and "Unleash the full value of your APIs") on the landing page.

Thanks!

    Hey oskarif,

No particular pros/cons of building a page by hand or with a generator. People use the tools they have available to them :)

I have to say I'm a little confused about your value prop. I think a big reason is that not all APIs are number-centric (I would even say most are not) so they can't be visualized with graphs. Maybe you could add an adjective, say "Visualize and embed your data API with ease". Actually, maybe remove "your" too. That helps broaden my horizon, making it clear it doesn't have to be my API. How about: "Turn data APIs into embedable charts in seconds"?

    Target audience:

    • As a developer having had to integrate charts into my apps, I can relate to the pain. I never quite managed to get any of the graph libraries (Google Graphs, Chartkick, chart.js) out there to output graphs that look as pretty as the ones on their home pages. Same even with BI tools like Periscope. So if I'm able to use your tool to embed beautiful graphs in 10 minutes instead of 10 hours, it's great value.
    • I can see how it could be useful for data owners who may or may not have an API to share their data. However for this case I think the widget would need to be brandable and super customizable.
    • the no-code audience would definitely feel right at home here. Did you consider writing plugins for all the no-code builders, like Adalo and Bubble?
    • my recommendation would be to focus on developers first, as a replacement to chart libraries. Your product is ready for it as is. No-coders could also work with a couple tweaks. However I think you'll need to add more features for it to be valuable for data owners.

    Pricing:

    • seems like premium and basic are exactly the same, except premium has analytics? You could consider moving more features into your premium plan, for instance some graph types or streaming. As a developer I would also pay extra to remove your branding from the chart.
    • the way you have it laid out, it looks like it costs a lot more than it actually does, because you're hiding the included tiers (3 visualizations and 5000 hits)
    • did you consider doing what most other SaaS do, which is pre-including more of whatever you're selling as you go up in plans? Eg: basic has 3 visualizations and 5000 hits included for €5.99. Premium could include 10 visualizations and 50,000 hits for say €29.99, making it a saving over basic pricing. And you could add a third plan for bigger usage.
    • hits calculations: I would recommend bundling it per 1000 hits instead of individual hits. That's how AWS and mailing APIs do it.

    Keep it up!
    Ben

Hi Ben, thank you for taking the time to study the product and take the time to write such a detailed reply. It is very valuable input that you provide.

It seems that you did understand the value proposition, as we are targeting APIs that provide data, more precisely numerical data (at least for now).

      Target audience:

      • Your take on the possibility to customize the visualizations is spot on. We probably will add the possibility to white label the visualization for now
      • The plugins seem like an interesting addition. We will consider those as well

      Pricing:

      • You are right, as of now the difference between the two plans is in the analytics bit. We most likely will add the white labeling feature into the premium plan
      • We actually have gone through various pricing plan alternatives and might do an overhaul before launch as well. The reason why we have not pre-included a lot of visualizations / hits in the price as of now is to encourage as many early adopters to sign up after the planned launch. Will have to think about maybe three plans, a basic plan with a low price to encourage sign ups, a premium plan with higher pricing and more content included (with a discount for early adopters) and a custom plan for high rollers =)

Thank you again for your input and hope to see you again after we launch.

      Oskari
