Landing page feedback: Makerflow - Avoid interruptions, stay focussed.

Vivek @bcosynot

Hey IH, I am hoping to build a system that allows a team of individual contributors to stay focussed and maintain a state of flow longer to get work done. Looking for feedback on the landing page.

URL: https://uvv50lj7pgut.landen.co/

I am just starting out, trying to validate my idea. Hoping to launch ads after receiving feedback from here.

Does the landing page make sense to you? Is the value proposition clear and obvious? Can I improve the landing page in anyway?

Seems like the alignment of the sections post-hero section were all hard aligned to the left. The little "made with landen" or whatever cheapened it a bit for me as well.

I think your one-liner could be stronger and it's somewhat redundant as you already say "maker" and "flow" in the name. I think playing up that you are destroying distractions or something like that would play well.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really feel like "makers" really means much outside of the makerspace (makersphere?). I'm an engineer on a team where the majority of us do believe of getting into a state of flow and doing deep work, and I don't think the word "maker" had been thrown around once. Maybe we're just lame and/or too old school, who knows.

I thought visually everything looked sharp outside of the alignment issue. It was very feature-focus though. Always good to focus on the results and how you're going to change people's lives, instead of the features that you're going to (or planning to) provide to them.

Thank you, this is very helpful! I have now overhauled the page incorporating feedback from here.

The little "made with landen" or whatever cheapened it a bit for me as well.

I am still prototyping the page. Once it's ready I will publish it on my own domain without that badge.

I think your one-liner could be stronger and it's somewhat redundant as you already say "maker" and "flow" in the name.

Changed it to "helps Software Engineers manage their interruptions and distractions"

I was using that term because I wanted to target all individual contributors in software product teams (engineers, QA, designers, etc).
I updated the page to narrow my target end users to be software engineers for now because that's a use case I understand.

I thought visually everything looked sharp outside of the alignment issue.

I updated the layout trying to address this. Hopefully it's not an issue anymore.

It was very feature-focus though. Always good to focus on the results and how you're going to change people's lives, instead of the features that you're going to (or planning to) provide to them.

That was a good catch, thanks! I flipped the script a bit. I am now focussing on benefits and tying those benefits to features, bringing it all together at the end with a more abstract benefit.

AH gotcha, about the use of "maker"... feel like just saying "team" would get you the mass appeal then.

Really digging the new headline on there, it hits really hard (to me at least)

The landing page design is way to busy. I can't see some of the text.

Who are you targeting? The term makers is normally for solo makers from what I have seen.

If you're looking to maximise your efforts, an about me/us would do wonders.

Thanks for the feedback! I took out backgrounds from the page, to make it cleaner.

I am essentially targeting individual contributors - software engineers in the immediate future because that's a use case I am close to and understand, but long term I would like to target other ICs like designers and QA.

If you're looking to maximise your efforts, an about me/us would do wonders.

I could add that, but I am also wondering how that helps?

There are so many products being released, the only unique thing you have is you and your story.

I would change the wording for "help Makers on your team maintain a state of flow."

I think the word "maker" makes no sense in this context.

Landing page looks to simple now, add a background colour to the middle section

          Thanks @volkandkaya!

I updated the page to mention software engineers, instead of makers. I think it makes more sense to target users I understand right now and your feedback helped me come to that conclusion.

I also overhauled the page and modified the layout. I hope I struck a good balance this time and its neither too busy, nor too simple.

There are so many products being released, the only unique thing you have is you and your story.

I added a short "About Me" section. Hopefully that explains what I am trying to do and why.

Yes for me its busy too, I think that's mainly on large screens, if I size my browser window to mobile it looks way better.

      1. 1

Yeah, I had a feeling I went too far with it. As the famous quote goes.. I was so preoccupied with whether or not I could, I didn't stop to think if I should.

I removed backgrounds and made text colors more uniform to clean it up a bit. Thanks for the feedback!

Very nice on mobile. Although I felt some of the margins were a bit too big.

    1. 1

Thanks! I changed the layout a bunch. Hopefully you won't see those margin issues anymore.

Love the visuals. Did you source them from online? Or design them yourself? I'm always wondering how to get the right visuals for my landing page.

Thanks! I'm using a library called Humaaans https://www.humaaans.com/

There are other similar libraries like unDraw - https://undraw.co/

PH has a list of alternatives for undraw here - https://www.producthunt.com/alternatives/undraw-1

      Hope this helps!
