Launched the most minimal MVP I've ever built

I've finally built and launched a minimum viable product that's actually super simple, took hardly any time to build, and is possibly viable.

Previous attempts have always taken at least a month to get in front of customers. I started working on Screenjar just over a week ago and it's now live on Product Hunt (https://www.producthunt.com/posts/screenjar)

The initial idea was to build something like https://lookback.io/ that would let designers request screen recordings from customers trying out their products/prototypes. The main difference would be that my version wouldn't require any downloads/extensions.

I made a proof of concept and Tweeted about it (https://twitter.com/ramykhuffash/status/1242790229213396993). This got a decent amount of interest and a couple of people asked whether it could be used for customer support.

I decided to make Screenjar less focussed on designers (this could end up being a mistake), built a landing page, made some tweaks, and launched it.

I'm not sure whether this will end up being a success, but it feels great to know that even if it isn't, it didn't take much time at all to get to this point.

I like the focus on helping support teams 👍. Getting people to show what the issue is on their screen is HUGE.

Great job Ramy. You're the first ever vote on Product Hunt for me. Just love the idea and how easy and simple you made it.

Wow, that's awesome! Thank you so much for the vote :-)

I am really surprised that no one has come up with that idea, yet! Great idea and kudos on your fast MVP, I will follow your progress:)

I think this is a really interesting idea, particularly for customer support use-cases. I had this exact need a few weeks ago with a CS rep. I was explaining an issue to a support rep and she asked me to send a video. Send me screen video software to download and a link to google drive to send it back. Not ideal.

Not sure about minimal, but definitely viable!

Love it how simple it is. I didn't know that browser offers such an easy access to recording features.

    Upvoted!
    Good luck with further proceedings!

i haven't tried it out, but looks quite simple and fabulous! once you make the recording, do you have to send it to the requester yourself?

No, the video is automatically uploaded and the person who sent them the unique url can then see the video at that same unique url

brilliant! I'm guessing the permissions checks are done so that only the person who sent the url can view the video at that same url.

Really cool Ramy, sounds like a great idea. Simplicity (1 click) and value (feedback)

Yes interesting times indeed. Has Versoly been impacted at all?

We didn't do much marketing in March so we only grew a little. Churn was pretty high as well.
