There are people who are better than me in every possible way... I have this mentor who not only reads twice as many books, he internalizes the knowledge and comes up with his own insights. While I pick the best sellers so I can "catch-up" in what's "trendy", he develops this mind-map of the readings that will help his projects. Every year he improves himself in so many ways--he's a human "growth engine".
Last year, he quit his well-paid silicon valley job and started his own company. But he hit a roadblock after his MVP, so he paused and spent the last 6 months reflecting and researching.
I find it really hard to step back once I get started. Maybe it is my ego, trying to prove that I'm right even when things aren't going my way. Is this "grinding it out mentality" will eventually lead to perseverance, or should founders step back, reflect and learn? Which approach will more likely to prevail at the end?
Reflect and learn, for sure!
