Lessons learned building online community

After many years thinking about building community, I wanted to put into words what I learned building community in person (though Startup Weekend, meetup groups, parties) and tie it into what I've learned now focused on building online community.

This was spurred by playing with a new community-building called Circle which I'm really excited about.
