Let me critique your website copy!

Hey Everyone!

After joining this site 2 months ago, I've come to learn so much about building and growing a side project and now I want to give something back 🙏

👇 Drop your sites below & with a Loom, I'll cover:

  • Who I think your product is for (based off your copy)🚶‍♂️
  • Whether your key benefits & features are conveyed well enough 🗣
  • How you could improve/rephrase one specific thing (with an example) ✅

I love reading through website copy so pretty excited to start!

All I ask in return is that you check out my side project that I launched last week: Fruitbowl.io 🍉

Cheers 😃

Hey @jptwothree05, great engagement with your post! Taking a look at your landing page, my feedback is:

    1. Have a punchier headline than just "Invoicing and Contracts for Digital Agencies". For example, I've worked in a group that designs an education software. The tag line there is "Hero in Every Classroom".
    2. Make your text more concise. There is too much words in each paragraph for people to quickly understand the value. This feedback was given to me too as I iterated on my current product landing page.
    3. Micro-interactions on the page to make it more engaging. This is more of a nice to have and not absolutely critical to take your page from good to great!

Would love your feedback on my landing page, it is no where near perfect. There might be some ideas for you too!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I will be sure to edit the text to make it more readable :)

Hey @jptwothree05 thanks for doing this!

It'd be awesome if you could take a look at the landing page that I'm currently working on and let me know your thoughts: http://relaax.io

Taking a look FruitBowl I can immediately understand what you're offering and who you're offering it too (I could instantly understand that it didn't apply to me 😅)

The one feedback that I can give is in line with what @johncb said. I think that your prices are too low. I think if you're aiming to solve problems that agencies are having (and it sounds like a large, hard to scale problem for them) then your pricing should reflect that

    1. 2

Thank you for taking the time to look at my site.

I'll definitely check out relaax.io and give you video feedback :D

Hey, feel free to checkout my app store landing page, it could use some work: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bold-cbt-journal/id1448434338

I am looking at FruitBowl now :)

    1. 2

Your website looks great, I understood what you're offering instantly. I only have some small nitpick suggestions:

      • pressing "get started" took me to sign-in but I don't have an account. I would have expected it to take me to to "register".
      • I can see the dashboard before the login page for a brief moment. I am not authenticated. Here is a screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/M7Bcjcm
      • I think your prices are too low. I don't know anything about your market but it sounds like you're solving a very painful problem for agencies and that they would pay you far more if the problem is truly that painful.
      1. 1

As soon as Ive recorded my thoughts, i'll post the loom link on here 👍

      2. 1

Thank you for that feedback, I really appreciate it :)

I've corrected the "get started" link since and I'll have another look at my pricing.

Just looking at Bold now, gotta say your screenshots are very eye catching!

Hi @jptwothree05, love this idea. Would love to get your feedback on www.tendrevolution.com

Looking at Fruit Bowl, I'd suggest the following:

    • can you make the headline something more aspirational? Think about Maslow's hierarchy of needs and what your product ultimately enables your customers to do (free up time to focus on the important parts of growing a business)
    • tell me the benefits of your product in the second section, what you currently have is more focused on describing the product and it's attributes (e.g. "user-friendly interface"), not what they enable. What do these product attributes enable your customers to do (save time etc)

It would be great to get your feedback on our site.

    Thanks!

    1. 1

Hey mate thank you for that feedback, I really think the headline needed some work!

Ive made some changes so feel free to have another look

    Hey! Here's some feedback:

    • I'm not sure the hero graphic conveys your product. If you add a product / better visual representation, I think that would help to convey your message.

    • Whitespace is great - everything is clear and readable.

    • The bright green logo against the white background has a poor contrast making it harder to read - poor for accessibility and it clashes a bit against the purple.

    • Quite a lot of text in the 'Why Fruitbowl?' section - may be good to halve this.

    • The illustrations further down the page would benefit from custom images in my opinion.

    • Overall it's not a bad page at all, some minor tweaks and it would be kick-ass. Replacing your illustrations with better visual aids would be the most important thing in my opinion. Good job so far!

Be gentle: Bolt - updated UI elements coming soon, but layout will remain the same. I've looked at the copy so long that I'm not sure if it even makes sense any more!

Awesome product man, hard to find improvements:

Thank you, much appreciated. Always great to have another set of eyes on a design. Best of luck to you!

  7. 2

Hi @jptwothree05, this is a super generous offer and I'd love to get your feedback if you still have time -- my new project is at https://slideswith.com

Thoughts on Fruitbowl: I'd love to see a product demo or at least some screenshots before going through the registration page. I'm always interested in knowing exactly what the interface looks like before jumping through too many hoops.

My second suggestion is to make fewer of the registration fields required -- I tried to sign up but then got stuck when I couldn't find the logo I wanted quickly enough and the form wouldn't let me continue without it. I'll come back later and give it another shot when I have a bit more time :)

    Thanks again, best of luck!

    1. 1

Hey man, thank you for that feedback it's highly appreciated!
I've added screenshots to the site so check them out and see what you think.

Also, I want to thank you for signing up to Fruitbowl - let me know if everything goes smoothly with the rest of your onboarding 😅

    Hey,

    Some feedback for FruitBowl:

    • Page looks very readable and clean
    • I expected to see a "Pricing" button at the top
    • I am not sure exactly what it does apart from invoicing.
    • "Keep Clients Engaged" -> As far as I understand, it also provides some email functionality, or a way to contact the clients and keep in touch with them, which is a bit confusing as I probably already know the client and have his email.
    • I am also a bit confused by the contract being bundled with the invoice. How does that save me time or money? If I have a contract, I can easily attach it in the same email with the invoice and send it to a client.

Here is my landing page if you still have time to look over it: https://www.usertrack.net/

    1. 1

hey thank you for the detailed feedback, its really helpful! Regarding the contract and invoice, the client can digitally sign the contract with fruitbowl after they've paid the invoice. I've updated the images on my site, I think its clearer to understand now.

Here is your video, hope it helps!

      https://www.loom.com/share/340a1471b6fc4577850b7740d21e5b7b

      1. 1

Ok, I understand fruitbowl more now. I think my push-back (why I currently don't consider using it) is that I already use an invoicing platform, and I only do a few freelancer projects per year, so I might not be in your target audience. If I have to sign or send a contract I would still use a simple PDF, because I'm used do doing so and I don't find it that time-consuming. The main question is if bundling the contract signing with invoice generation is enough to justify a new subscription.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, really good points! I should definitely move those benefits to the pricing page, as the pricing page is the most-viewed page (people first click to go the pricing before they even read what the product is about, this is why I also suggested that you should add a pricing link to your header).

      1. 2

        Thank you for the feedback!

As far as I've seen from the session recordings, most clients don't read the testimonials at all. The usual user journey is: Home page (read hero text) -> Pricing -> Back to homepage to view features/images, but just scroll over testimonials.

I would not add a "click to see testimonials" button as that's an extra decision the user would have to take and an extra call-to-action link that would take away from the main CTA.

The problem with the testimonials, is that I don't know who those users are, where are they using the product, or what's their real name. The customers are mostly anonymous, apart from their username or email address sometimes. I just know that customers, whoever they are, are loving the product and wrote those nice reviews without me asking for them in any way.

      1. 1

This is awesome feedback! I can't use your product (I'm not the audience), but if I meet anyone who needs it, I'll send them your way. Also followed.

        1. 1

Thank you man i really appreciate that :D

  9. 2

Ooh, I need some help here - in an effort to improve my landing page, I've inadvertently made it a lot less clear and am getting a lot fewer conversions.

I'm already working on changes but would love your thoughts - https://verifiablee.com

Part of the challenge is that it's a little tricky to explain - it demos well, but I've had a lot of people comment that they don't get it until they see the demo. I tried to capture that in the video, but doesn't seem to be working.

    1. 1

Sure no worries will check it out!

  10. 2

Hey, I checked out your landing page. Looks good, had to think for a while what to improve. Some ideas:

    • Screenshots of the product
    • Customer testimonials
    • A case study (How an agency started using your product, what they used before and what improvements came with the switch to your product.)

    My project: https://topicplay.com

Wow thats really useful feedback that you've given, thank you!

    Feedback:

    • Video music almost destroyed my ears
    • Check out plyr.io to embed the video
    • Use a video instead of the green gif. Better quality, lower filesize and you can make it bigger so you can actually see whats going on
    • All in all, pretty nice site. I'm not the target audience, but if I was, I'd definitely try it out
    • Actually, I wouldn't. There is no 7 day trial or something so you can get a feel for the interface and if you like it. Would be cool to see the backend, even if its limited in the way that you can't actually send the invoice at the last step

Here's my page: Tag My Knowledge

    1. 1

Hey man thank you for that feedback, I've fixed the video aspect and am thinking about a 7 day trial.

I ended up creating a Medium article (friend link) for the device embed code. It's currently paywalled because I wanted to see how that affects views, but the link isn't. Maybe you can get some value out of it.

        Oh, one more thing:
After checking out your page again, I noticed that the video player doesn't pop out when you scroll down. I think with plyr you'd get that feature. Btw I'm not paid by them, they're open source & 100% free. I just love them so much

      2. 1

        Thanks a lot, great feedback!

Not sure if I want to change the headline just yet since the focus is on knowledge, but I will definitely try this out once I get to A/B testing. Agree to everything else, thanks again!

Also, if you want the code to display the video inside a device frame, I can send it to you if you want. It's pretty simple

    About fruitbowl:

    • Product for: Digital agencies, to simplfy the invoicing
    • Key benefits: Simple, does everything for you, you don't have to worry about it.
    • Copy: How does it work => How can you benefit from Fruitbowl?
How does it work seems so generic to me.
  18. 1

I would love to hear your feedback for https://aspirethemes.com/. Thanks so much!

  19. 1

Hey @jptwothree05 just checked out Fruitbowl.io, first of all I love your minimal approach to the design of the UI, one gets what you are offering immediately on visiting your site.

Also love how you've explained with an image to show how it all works as one scrolls down, before getting to the pricing one is aware of what you are offering in detail.

So here is my landing page, any feedback will be greatly appreciated: https://chatifai.datawisepro.com/

  20. 1

Cheers @jptwothree05. Here is my landing page: https://quickchatbot.versoly.page.

    1. Loved your minimalisically themed (Google like) design
    2. A little bit wordy, so may be a review of copy would
    3. I'd also add a video/gif
    4. Add couple more posts in blog for validation
    1. 1

Thank you for that advice, I've added in videos & gifs since, and removed a lot of the words!

Hey there! Would love your thoughts on https://midnight.pub

  22. 1

    Amazing engagement, congrats mate!

I'd love if you could have a chance to review https://remoteworkly.co 🙂

    On point with your website:

    • I run an agency, but not fully clear on admin hassle you mention in the sub-header

    • I would clean out copy a little further. Example

"Fruitbowl.io combines both invoicing and contract signing into one step so that you can go from sales call to onboarded client in the smoothest way possible. No more hopping between different platforms."

    to

"Avoid losing your clients by combining invoicing and contracts in a one seamless step on a single platform.

Hit them with the fear of loss, then offer solution and unique value prop. Use the words "you, your and we"

    --

Also I would reduce alot of the words used, like code, the fewer the words the better the outcome

"First, you want to create your invoice with all of the services that you're offering. You can also set the billing schedule for the invoice if you want it to be recurring or just once off. Either way, the client pays straight into your Stripe account."

    to

"Create an invoice for all your billables. Set up a schedule or make it recurring, whatever works. No more chasing, we'll do it for you"

https://marketingexamples.com/copywriting/conversational is a great place for such examples.

    Hope this helps!

    Feedback for Fruitbowl.io:

Offering, features and pricing is clearly conveyed.

    Two questions:

    1. Does writing the mission helps in any way? It sounds a bit less specific.
    2. Why don't you have a separate Pricing Page? Afaik, it will help you improve your SEO.

I'm sharing the current landing page of Sociomata for which we have opened the waitlist. It is not a live product as of now but people are joining the waitlist to get early access. I want to know if the offering is clearly conveyed or not? sociomata.com

I will be happy to hear back from you.

    1. 1

Thank you for the feedback I think the addition of a pricing page would help

Thank you for the very detailed and specific feedback on the copy. I look forward to improving.

  24. 1

I don't have a digital agency, but I like how clean your landing page is and that the prices are extremely easy to find.

    Here's my latest project: https://www.boethi.us/

  25. 1

I love the drawings on the page. However, I'm not a big fan of the gigantic sticky header. On a resolution that's not very tall, it takes a lot of space.

One thing that I like to see on websites is who's behind it and why would I trust you with my credit card? I couldn't find that info on yours.

On the mission statement: "Our mission is to accelerate the workflow of agency owners by combining many of their tasks.". I'm probably not the target audience but I don't understand why combining tasks is helpful. Is it less work?

If you're still doing reviews, my website is https://ideaworkbench.io

One point about the new design: since parts of it pop up as you scroll, does that affect SEO? It the site crawled properly by search engines?

      2. 1

That's great feedback, I really appreciate it! Thanks Javahn!

  26. 1

Hi! Would love to hear your feedback on https://dienox.com ! 🙌

    Fruitbowl looks great! Some feedback:

    • "admin hassle" doesn't mean a lot to me, I own digital agencies so I think it should apply to me (but could be language barrier, I'm Dutch)
    • I would place the "how it works" section before "why Fruitbowl". I only wanna know why you of I know how you do what.
    • Maybe add a simple 1,2,3 before the titles in the how it works section. Makes me wanna finish the steps while reading.
    • Maybe add in some screenshots or a demo?
    • Pricing looks great, clear as can be.

Obviously the above is my opinion and not facts. Good luck and would love to hear your feedback! :)

Hey, still developing our product but would love a critique of our current website: www.dekked.app.

    Thanks! :)

As for Fruitbowl.io, I love the look of the website. Here are some changes I would make:

    1. Personally I find the Fruitbowl.io logo to be quite big as I am scrolling--but that might just be a personal preference.
    2. Under the heading Why Fruitbowl? you number the first box "1 Step Onboarding", but then don't go on to number the other boxes.
    3. I would include a question mark after the heading: How does it work
    4. Some typos--e.g. in the second box under the heading Why Fruitbowl, you say: "After your client as agreed", the "as" should be "has". Eliminating any typos will make it look more professional :)

Site looks very clean, just the idea for you -- you should add the option for $0 / month and take a transaction fee above stripe fee (let's say 5%).

I'd suggest replacing the illustrations with some product screenshots. Without customer testimonials, I'd at least want to see how the app itself looks. Otherwise, it was clear to me what you offered. Do you have competitors in your space?

    No problem 👍

    • Make the navbar smaller in height. It is taking up too much space.
    • Try using a font like Inter for text and DM Sans for titles
    • The "© 2020 Fruitbowl.io / All rights reserved." text in the footer isn't centered
    • Add some social links to the footer. (twitter, facebook, contact)
    • ManyPixels has some good illustrations too. I suggest you check them out :)

I would love some feedback on ChromeExtensionKit! I've gone through a couple iterations on the site and copy.

With regards to Fruitbowl, I think the site looks great. I was able to get a good idea of what the product is fairly quickly as well. My only suggestion would be potentially adding screenshots of the actual product so I can get a better idea of what it looks like.
