Letting Supply Drive Demand? Guest Submissions

So I write a newsletter called Steal My Idea, "where you can earn your purple belt in unqualified due diligence on made up ideas". Each issue is an in-depth, yet irreverently toned, deep dive on a business idea I think someone should create...subscription box for concert tees, netflix for homevideos, junk car marketplace...etc.

I'm wondering if opening it up to guest idea submissions would potentially help grow my audience. My thinking is that if someone submits an idea they are passionate about, and I write about it, they'll want to share it with their network, which will open my newsletter up to another audience and potentially result in more subscribers.

Has anyone tried something like this to get the flywheel going?

Here's a link so you can get a feel for it: https://www.stealmyidea.io/

    My thoughts on this:

    • Will guest posters have to stick to your strict post format? Will they have to use your image design?
    • What do you have to lose? How much of a follower base is there that could decide to unsubscribe over a single guest post? How realistic is that?
      • In my opinion, the possible advantages outweigh the downsides.
    • Which other marketing opportunities do you have that you could also use? Ideas:
      • Submitting every article to IH, HN, Reddit
      • Writing guest posts for other people who have a decent following
