I've seen a lot of hate for LinkedIn (myself included), so I thought I'd take a stab at prototyping a replacement. Specifically, this thread was an inspiration. https://twitter.com/theSamParr/status/1409884148609789970.
I'd like to carve out a niche focused on high quality engagement between vetted recruiters+candidates, colleagues, and event organizers in the creative tech industry (ui, development, growth, etc).
As a serial contractor, my ideal platform would be to stay connected with my tried and true recruiters, talk shop with colleagues and maybe attend an online dev talk!
After getting some functionality ready for validation, I played with some branding concepts. I really wanted to focus on the concept of maintaining a network of people and finally settled on Rivet @ rivet.team.
Rivet: To attach or fasten parts by using rivets :)
Few years back in 2014. I started working on LinkedIn replacement. It has become fish market over time rather than a professional network. I started with technical recruiting and community platform. It didn't worked well at that time. Faced serious backlash from incubators, companies. Turned out market wasn't ready at that time. I was focusing on only one region Pakistan. I had to quit eventually. I still have lots of ideas how we can fix it and create a platform over it.
