Looking for Android apps and SaaS to feature in my newsletter

I'm looking for apps to feature in my newsletter Practicing Google, which provides weekly practical resources on Google products and related tech. Each issue has a link to an Android app and one to a web app or SaaS.

I'd like to feature also indie apps and you're welcome to submit your own.

It's probably easier to say what app categories I'm not interested in:

  • games
  • to-do
  • calendar
  • lifestyle
  • fitness and health
  • social
  • music, cinema, media
  • news
  • food
  • beauty
  • sports
  • travel
  • weather
  • stocks and finance
  • crypto
  • launchers
  • maps
  • habits

Android apps can be paid, as long as the one-time purchase price is below a dozen $ or the lowest subscription tier is under about $20/year. It's a plus if the apps support Chrome OS and are optimized for tablets and large screens.

As for web apps and SaaS, they can be freemium but should have a free tier (no trial). It's a plus if web apps or SaaS integrate in some way with the Google ecosystem such as by letting the users sign up with a Google account, access photos in Google Photos, save files to Google Drive, or back up data to Google Drive.

I'll be happy to check your apps but I may decide not to feature them if they aren't a good fit for my newsletter. Also, I include one app of each type per week, so it may take a while to feature the ones I do pick.

@Dinakar @amandaz In issue #60 of my newsletter I showcased Social Snack and Perfect Recall. Thanks!

Thanks @PaoloAmoroso! Echoing @Dinakar, this was the most accurate description of the app I've seen from someone else before! Applicable use cases too.
I appreciate the feature in your newsletter.

You're welcome. I sent out the issue yesterday but so far there have been no tracked clicks.

Wow! I must say this is the best description to define Social Snacks. I'm amazed.

The other helpful tips and tricks are great resources as well. How many read your issue?

Also, I can see that Revue still hasn't issued its cert. Hope they can do that soon.

Thanks, glad you like the app's description and the newsletter. This issue went out to 62 subscribers and 2 clicked your link so far.

Yes, Revue doesn't support https for subdomains yet. Just a few days ago I inquired about the issue and they said they're working on the feature. When they have updates, they'll notify me.

You might want to check my wish list & registry app: https://wishpy.com/

Behind the scenes it uses Google's Firebase services to run.

An original idea, thanks. I'll feature the app.

I have an open source app which shows you movie ratings.

    What's the catch?

The app shows you movie ratings when you are browsing Netflix. You don't have to leave the Netflix app or copy the title. Just install, activate & forget about it. Whenever your browse Netflix on your phone, the app will show IMDb ratings in a bubble.

Thanks but cinema is actually among the categories I don't cover.

Hey Paolo! At first glance, I thought you mentioned the categories you're interested in. Anyway, it'd be nice if you listed the categories you're interested in instead of not interested in.

I'll leave my app, just in case if you like. Social Snacks lets you save images, videos and stories you see on social media. Quite handy since it covers Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp etc with an aggregated gallery so you can watch later in one place.

Thanks for the feedback. Actually, I initially thought of listing the categories I'm interested in. But I realized it's easier to tell whether an app is a good fit when seeing them and list the categories I'm not interested in.

Social Snacks seems a useful app, I'll feature it.

Glad you find it useful and thanks much in advance for featuring the app.

Just signed for your newsletter, will check out your issues. Your site btw doesn't have an SSL certificate. It says not secure, no big deal but some browsers creep out and display a warning.

Thanks. You're right, the problem is Revue doesn't support https yet. They already planned to fix it, let's hope Twitter's resources will help them do it faster.

Not sure if my app (https://www.perfectrecall.app) would be a good fit?
It integrates with Google through sign up with Google and Google calendar. Although it's not a calendaring app.

    1. 1

Thanks, Perfect recall seems a good fit. Do I understand correctly it helps create summary reports of video calls through video clips and transcriptions?

      1. 1

Yes, the value prop is it lets you record, transcribe and make highlight reels from your Zoom calls

Best wishes for your app but I'm very unlikely to cover Apple products in the future. Just out of curiosity, what does your app do?

Okay thanks, it seems an easy to use and useful app.
