Looking for freelance writers to join our team offering blog writing services - remote, paid position

Hi IndieHackers!

Context
I've been running Centori for some time as a web app designed to make SEO simple for small teams and businesses. We aim to reduce friction when it comes to finding the right keywords to rank for, and guidance on creating content around those keywords to improve your site's rank (as well as reporting on what content actually drives traffic).

One area of friction I've increasingly found is that many small businesses/startups just don't have quality writers on their team and as a result content creation goes to the wayside, and they never see any results when it comes to SEO.

As a result we're experimenting with a network of vetted writers that our users can connect with via the app to write a post on any topic of their choosing. The idea is to have this baked right into the app, while we're in the MVP stage we'll be facilitating the process and payments manually. I'll handle requests and reach out to see if this is something you'd like to take on and we'll take it from there.

About you
I'm looking to bring on writers who have experience creating professional content for the web, optimizing content for SEO, and can write under a deadline on a variety of topics. To name a few industries that we have customers in:
-finance
-landscaping
-biotech
-marketing (content marketing, digital marketing, customer nurturing).
As with all indie hacker companies we're growing quickly so this may change soon :)

As we're in the early stages of this service we're looking for folks who are flexible, want to try something new, and are willing to offer candid feedback on the process so we can continue to perfect it.

The role
You'll have a profile in our platform for our users to view and they'll be able to connect with you to write a blog post. We have a handful of users now and plan to scale, so opportunities will likely come in slowly and then pick up as we progress through the year.

When you receive an assignment you'll submit a draft for the customer to view and provide feedback on, and work with them to action the feedback so they have a piece that is ready to publish.

Payment
We'll be charging $.15 per word for content and will take 12.5% off each as a facilitation fee.

This means for a 1,000 word blog post, our customer will be charged $150, we'll keep $18.75 and pay you $131.25.

We're cultivating writers across industries to limit overlap so you don't have to bid yourself lower to compete, and we're not going to vary the percentage we keep based on how much work you take on (like some other platforms).

We want to keep this simple and predictable for our customers and you.

If you're interested I'd love to read a few writing samples and get to know you better - you can reach me at [email protected].

Hi Tyler. Looks like an interesting project.

By the way, did you check out the business model of https://writers.work/ ? Their website can give you some cool ideas.

Thanks! I haven't heard of them (though I've seen similar platforms) I'll check them out!

@tscionti You’re going to have to get the pricing legit or you might not get any takers with experience and serious writing chops.

Honest question for feedback - what do you mean by legit?

Is it that $.15 per word seem low? From my research it seems middle of the road for pricing, not especially high (which gets up to $1/word, though most fall below $.50/word ) but not the lowest either (lower bound is $.05/word). If $.15/word seems low though it's good to know.

I removed the section on variance by industry because a flat fee price just makes the most sense. No other platforms like this offer any variance based on the content you want so we shouldn't either.

        Yep, $.15 is too low.
