Made $300 from selling a digital product on Notion

language-learning-resources

I'm selling a digital product called Language Learning Resources, a database hosted on Notion to help language-learners find quality resources easily. Here's how I create and sell my product.

Building

I use Notion (obviously, haha) to compile all the resources into a single database. I decided on Notion because a lot of people (especially students) have already adopted Notion as their primary note-taking tool.

Selling

I use Ko-fi to sell my product. Here's why:

  1. It's very easy to set up a shop on Ko-fi
  2. Payout is instant if buyers paid with PayPal and only a couple of days if via Stripe.
  3. They take 0% from sales if you subscribed to their Gold plan (only $6 per month or $54 per year). If you make $10,000, you'll get $10,000 from Ko-fi, just minus Stripe/Paypal fees.

Marketing

I tweeted about the product multiple times on my Twitter page and DM'ed a couple of close friends. Posted on Reddit /sideproject and also here on Indie Hackers. This resulted in quite a number of sales. My next step is to launch on Product Hunt.

Hope the brief report was useful! Feel free to ask me questions in the comments below, I'll be happy to answer them.

Also, please do give my product a look and if you like it, I hope you'll consider buying it or at least tell your friends and follower about it :)

    Congratulations Yusuf!
More than the amount earned, the experience of getting the word out will prove to be useful in the future!

How long did it take you do build the database?

      Thanks so much, Victor!

I spent about an hour per day for 1 week to create a salable version. From then on, I'll be dedicating about an hour per week.

Thanks for checking it out :)

Yes, definitely. Just compile whatever useful skills or information you have, and sell it as a digital product. Someone, somewhere, will definitely resonate with you. And the larger your audience is, the easier it'll be to get sales, no validation needed.

Thanks for checking out my product, Anish :)
