Made and launched a game in 2 days, need your help to improve it and make it profitable?

A brief introduction πŸš€

  • 1 year ago with a friend, we wanted to play together a game called Undercover which is a Werewolf lookalike. However, we did not find any good version of this game online so we made our own ! 2 days later the game was made.
  • Our main focus during the built was to make the game frictionless. In 20 seconds, the user go to our game, put his/her username and share a link to play ! No sign-in is required at the moment (maybe its was a mistake idk).
  • We made the game without thinking about monetization, just having fun.
  • We do not have any promotions except for a Producthunt 8 months ago

Everyone love some stats, so here you go πŸ™‚:
(see the heading image)
Our number of daily active users (DAU) is 350, with some peak at 650.

My questions to the community

  • Last year, I didn't have enough time to improve the game but as the game gained a bit of traction with recurrent users, I am thinking to improve it.
  • I have plenty of ideas on how to improve the game but I do not have any experience on going further a side project, it will be much appreciated if you guys have some thoughts about the following questions please πŸ™

My first question is what to focus on first, market undercovergameonline.com or improve it ?

If the answer is not to market it first, should I add the following ?

  1. add account system
  2. tutorial on how to play the game
  3. join a game with a link
  4. public lobby for play with random
  5. new skins
  6. rewards
  7. points system
  8. and many more

I'm open to any suggestion πŸ˜ƒ

Making money

Money is not my first motivation obviously (in the top 2 πŸ€‘). For the moment, the hosting is entirely free (Thx to firebase). However, do you have some experience with monetizing a game like that ? I read many quora and reddit posts about this topic but maybe the indie hacker community have a specific view on it 😎

For now, here are my thoughts:

  • Classic banner ads;
  • Subscription plan with a freemium model;
  • Affiliation;
  • Skins shop; and
  • Donation link.

For tech nerds πŸ’»

  • All the game run on firebase services
  • Static hosting: Firabse hostings
  • Computing: Firebase function
  • Database: Firestore
  • Front: React

We use the integrated websocket of the firestore package for all the realtimes changes. Not the best, but it works ! πŸ˜†

Finally, tell me what do you think about the game in the comments !!!!! Thanks !

What to focus on first
  1. Market
  2. Improve
  3. Both
Vote
  1. 1

    The avatars are funny, but I couldn't run the game at all. The dev console shows errors, e.g. Uncaught Error in snapshot listener: FirebaseError: Missing or insufficient permissions.

    I voted for "Improve" for obvious reasons. I guess if it works, maybe then shift to "Market"

    My challenge now is to decide what to work on, so I guess you're working on something else and maybe you have a list of potential things competing for your time
