MAMP php can't connect to mysql

So, for a project I'm setting up a wordpress blog and to test out on my mac I upgraded MAMP to the newest version. Now I have a problem that while I can connect to mysql with Sequel Pro, I can't connect to the mysql databases from PHP – neither from PhpMyAdmin nor Wordpress.

Anyone have experience with this and has some ideas for how to make it connect?
