Moved to new place, Productivity went down.

Hey, everyone.

I have been feeling down lately a lot. Mainly, from last few days. I can't seem to focus on doing anything!

I believe one of the reason being that I have moved to this new place and my workspace has changed as well. The anxiety of shifting and minor problems here and there, at this place, is piling up with anxiety of my product development.

How do I cope with this?

This shit happens. I used to move every single month. Lost a week of productivity. I'm in the same place now for 5 months. (UGH.. everything) and been more productive than ever.

That's crazy. Every single month? I have shifted for the first time and I can imagine how difficult had it been for you. Maybe with time, we get used to this.

One thing that helps me is going out for a run and try a meet and talk to new people, since we can feel a little detach because of the nature of our work.

I don't know if I can do that, given the limitations around this place because of COVID. But I will sure give this a try. Thank you.

First, you should reflect on the fact that you just moved. That's a major life event, and that's stressful. Give yourself some slack.

When I have trouble getting started, I find it helpful to split work into the smallest possible units. I make a list of 10 or 15 short tasks. Preferably ones that take less than 10 minutes. It doesn't matter if they're work-related. They can just be "Throw out all the junk mail on the counter."

I can convince myself to do the first one, and then I can convince myself to do the second one, and then I get distracted, but then I convince myself to do the third one. Every time I convince myself to take another task, it gets a little easier. After a few days of slogging through this, I've lowered my activation energy enough that it's easier to work.

Good luck with the new place.

Nice idea. Breaking down work into smaller pieces. I like your point with activation energy. I believe it is high at the moment and is why I can't just jump into doing the work.

A few days may not be enough to settle into a new place and get back to the usual productivity. Let us know how it goes in a few weeks.

Yes, I need to give it some time. Sure, I will give an update, maybe after a month?.
