I recently had to switch from the Kubuntu operating system to a Mac.
Well, I didn't have to but I've got some repetitive stress injuries that have really flared up during the quarantine.
I looked around for a while but Linux speech to text software really isn't that great these days. Not to mention, video editing software isn't nearly as good as software on the Mac.
Pro tip: it's much cheaper to buy RAM separately from your new Mac and install it yourself or pay a technician to do so. Getting 64 GB would have cost about $600 through the Apple store but only $300 from Amazon.
Oh - and if you're getting a Mac mini note that they don't have any microphone inputs. The upside is, now I have one of those microphones with the stands and the pop filter and it makes it look like I know what I'm doing :)
I've got to say though, the voice recognition on Macs is really fantastic. I'm writing most of this post without even touching the keyboard. Amazing!
Question for Mac users: what are tips and tricks to get the most out of this thing? I've used Macs before but I've never owned one of my own, and I'm allll about efficient little hacks. Thanks!

Yeah, we'll see how this goes but I felt like I was doing a lot more system upkeep with Linux then I'll do with Mac.
Gonna go check out Alfred and Quicksilver - thanks for the recommendations!
