Multi-stage Goal Funnel With Google Analytics

My SaaS platform has a 14-day free trial period and two different levels of paid plans that both have monthly and yearly recurring billing options. I have a Destination based goal set up that when someone successfully registers for a free trial they are sent to a Welcome page that redirects into the app after five seconds. This is my first goal.

At any time during the 14-day free trial, or even afterward someone can upgrade to a paid subscription plan. I have an Event-based goal that triggers when someone completes payment for a paid subscription plan that has a dynamic goal value based on the plan level and billing interval they subscribed to. This is my second goal.

What I want to be able to do is have a multi-goal funnel that lets me easily track the conversion flow from visitors to free trial users to paid subscribers. I don't particularly want to measure the percentage of total website visitors that convert to paid subscriptions. I want to measure the percentage of free trial users that convert to paid subscriptions.

Has anyone done this either directly in Google Analytics or at least using some other tool based on Google Analytics data?

GA doesn't do goal funnels well. You could probably hack it together using goals for each step, then using segments for each goal marker to see what % of users make it to the next goal.

But really, it's just easier if you add Mixpanel and use the native funnel feature.
