I'm writing a book called 14 Habits of Highly Productive Developers.
This is the first time ever that I'm doing a pre-sale 🤓
Here are the numbers so far: 162 copies sold 📊
And here's what I learned... 👇
1) Buzz 🐝
When you're working on something for months, your first instinct is to show it to the world as fast you can.
However, there's an opportunity here to create excitement around the release. Don't let your anxiety take over.
2) Extra time ⌛️
If you're self-publishing, you must wear several different hats at the same time. This is super hard to do and may delay certain things.
By setting up pre-orders, you can put your Creator hat to the side and focus on wearing only your Promoter hat.
3) Early feedback 👋
There's nothing more precious than feedback. Reaching out to your friends and getting their opinions is pure gold.
Never skip this step. It will elevate the quality of your work by 100x times.
What about you? Do you have any tips about pre-sales?
I'd love to hear your ideas.
That's awesome. First of all, congratulations. Secondly, I have this question,
How did you create the buzz? Were you just logging your progress on social media OR did you do something out of the way as well?
Besides social media, I created an email list dedicated to sharing news about the book as I developed it. Creating in public is key, regardless of the channel you’re using.
Amazing. That's a useful insight. Thank you for sharing and all the best.
