Hey everyone,
Earlier today I launched my newest project on Product Hunt.
Honestly, I have held off on launching on Product Hunt because you only get one shot but today I decided to take the dive.
The project is called Startup Job Watch (Here is the link to the Product Hunt post: https://www.producthunt.com/posts/startup-job-watch).
Below are my first few takeaways. After the day is over I will add some more:
Don't over think it. Make your product as good as you can and go!
Developing a reputation of being helpful will help you a lot. I know a lot of people upvoted me because I have helped them in the past. They don't need my product but they felt a sense of wanting to help.
Leverage the communities you're in and the communities you've built. I have a email list of a few thousand people and I am in a few communities that I am helpful in all of the time, I posted in them to let people know. I know that got me a few extra up votes.
I don't think you HAVE to upload at 12am PST. I uploaded at 3:30am PST. I did that because I live on the east coast and a lot of my contacts do as well so I thought it would be good to get them when they were awake. My next launch I will do at 12am PST so I will let you know the difference then.
Make a BIG offer to PH. I discounted my product 95% for the first month. I signed up I believed 12 people to a paid offer. Who will stay after the first month, I don't know but I think a lot will.
Reduce the barriers to entry. I offer a money back guarantee. Most people never ask anyway, don't make them think about signing up, just get them to do it. Deal with the rest later.
Ok, that's it for now. I hope that helps some people. I will be back later.
In the meantime, if you enjoyed this, check out my post, it will be live for a few more hours 😁
