Hi, I run blog https://techwriter.documatt.com. I believe it has useful content, looks good. It exists for about 3 months. I promote it with helping others in forums, produce valuable libs with links in README, I'm on various "awesome" lists, etc.
Google doesn't index website content except for a few useless pages like about or posts per year. The valuable rest of the website is ignored. I correctly submit all pages in a sitemap. Google knows about them, but don't index them. I.e. I can't compete in search results at all.
Google Search Console tells me pages are "discovered - currently not indexed" "https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7440203#discovered__unclear_status". However, they are in this status for weeks and months.
How to break this "curse"?
Hey @documatt, There could be many reasons why google is ignoring this sub domain!
1- Check your robots.txt file, make there you're not blocking google bots.
2- You domain is penalized by google, You can check that one within your google search console.
3 - Make sure you have clean backlink profile.
4 - You have enabled the noindex tag on your website.
5 - Internal linking is not implemented in a proper way.
6 - Sitemap need some fix - like crawling permission, frequency etc.
7 - Google has something known as Google Scrape Box, In which google didn't rank website for first few months, but it seems this is not in your case because your website is not crawled properly.
8 - Worst of all - Complex website DOM structure!
9 - Check if there is some issue with your google search console!
10 - You have selected geo targeting for your website in GSC!
I hope these thing will fix your website crawl issue, If you still face this issue I would recommend you to go with professional audit!
My advice: Be patient. I started with my blog last year in September, but I got my first visitors from Google around December - January. The thing is that it takes some time before you get fully indexed by Google.
agree, Google does not index stuff regularly. Sometimes it just takes very long to get indexed. for example, my blog second result is the about page the thirdd is contact, then useless tags, posts with high quality content is page 9 and 10
+1 on this – it's a really common experience. In addition to using Google Search Console, you could try having Moz crawl your site with their free plan just to make sure nothing is amiss.
You may be still in the sand box. I recommend that you keep working on content, work on social media, and startWorking on backlinks outreach and guest post.
Hi all. I have none of the above issues. Somewhere I read that got stuck in "discovered - currently not indexed" also means that a domain is not important to Google and therefore it index only a part of its pages. Unfortunately, in my case, Google ran out capacity for me for useless pages :-(
Some good tips here already. One extra point - after publishing a blog post you can speed up the indexing process by adding the new URL to the "URL Inspection" tab in Search Console, then "click Request Indexing".
