My YouTube metrics & distribution channels strategy

Over the past month, I've launched a YouTube channel (portuguese speaking).

My metrics have been:

Views count:

  • 1st video - 850 views in 7 days
  • 2nd video - 250 views in 7 days
  • 3rd videos - launched yesterday - 60 views in the first 4 hours.

Subs. count:

  • 1st video - 51
  • 2nd video - +5 (=56)
  • 3rd video - +4 (=60)

Growth rate = +/- 5% on subs count per video
Growing at this rate I'll be reaching the 1k mark at my 50th to 52th video.

Starting in Feb. I'll start to post twice a week - Wednesdays and Sundays

Topics I speak about:

  • Stoicism - how to apply it in daily life and,
  • Productivity - I explore strategies and tools on how to become more productive and review Apps (having been the first Notion).

My audience:

  • 25 to 35/40 yo young professionals

My distribution channels:
LinkedIn:

  • 1st video - 4.800 people reached
  • 2nd video - 2.500 people reached

Instagram:

  • 1st video - 250 people reached
  • 2nd video - 120 people reached

Next steps:

  • repurpose content on IG starting March - publishing daily for at least 100 days;
  • launch my website between the end of Feb. & March - a collection of book notes & articles about my videos - almost more detailed transcriptions;
  • launch a newsletter between March and April - build an automated newsletter for 7 days of Stoic exercises and 7 days Notion intro course;
  • launch Book Club between March and April (books and notes review).

Questions:

  • Any advice?
  • Which other distribution channels can I use?

Cheers 😊

PS: I'd say that I'm still far from audience market fit, still trying different editing styles and video structures.

  1. 2

    I send a monthly newsletter to previous customers at IntroCave. I release 6-10 new video templates each month, and the new releases make up the bulk of my newsletter. I started just slamming those videos together in a reel to include in the newsletter each month (hosted on YouTube), and that's been strangely effective. I've been adding 20-25 new subscribers a month since starting that (up to ~270).

    I'm only getting ~100-200 views per video and very little watch time (it's a 1-2 minute video each month), but it's enough engagement that I'm going to start pushing it harder in 2021. I'm working on adding a video to an existing onboarding email and adding a new email to my welcome sequence to push people to my channel.

    Once those automations are set up, I'm going to start brainstorming longer video formats to go along with my monthly video dump.
