Need guidance with building my idea

Background: SE with a background in developing web applications in Python, Flask, and Django. Know HTML, CSS, JS (JQuery), but none of the new frontend frameworks.

My and friend have an idea which we want to build upon. This would be a side project that would include a main mobile app (final version) and a web app to start with I guess.

The problem is I'm clueless to start with all the information overload so far. Shall I be creating a landing page first or a concept page with some basic functionalities (login and probably an initial feature)?

Could someone guide me on how to tackle this problem? Are there any set steps, any guides that can help me with this?

Hey @aniruddhab, I'm going to be following this thread. I would recommend first reaching out to founders / just people in general, who would be target users of your product. You could do that through the following:

    (a) Making posts like this and then following up with the people who posted, IF they showed interest in helping you or if you think them to be target users of your product
    (b) Join slack channels (1 or 2) that have indie founders on them, and message them for their input. I joined the Indie Worldwide slack by Anthony Castrio. It's called "Indie Worldwide" and the folks there are nice + helpful.

I would recommend really having 2-3 targeted questions you want to ask your candidates. Otherwise you'll feel overwhelmed, which I've often felt. I made a survey for my project (Sparrow) and now I just ask people for 4 minutes of their time and send over the survey.

Hope this helps man, oh and make sure you prioritize your work-streams eh? Don't try to do 20 things in 2 days.

Thanks. Do you have a Slack invite that I could be added to?

Anthony's doing a great job bringing people together. https://indieworldwide.co/ Sign up here! My startup's listed there too, it's called Sparrow (www.SparrowTheApp.com).

I'm in similar situation but I have some experience with frontend frameworks. I'm bad at design so I hired a web designer.

I would say build an MVP if you are confident about your idea, if not, find ways to validate your idea.

I'm open for collaboration as well, let me know.

Thanks. Will start working on the MVP by building an API.

And I'll keep the offer in mind.
