Need help figuring out a price for a freemium product

Hi all,

I recently launched this iOS developer tool and decided on a freemium model ($10 / year for the Pro plan).

Currently, I have it set to prompt the user to upgrade if they:

  • Try and add more than one project
  • Use the "Import" feature
  • Manage more than 10 links

I sort of chose these restrictions arbitrarily and selected a price of $10 / year. I figured even if I got a few paying customers that would more than offset the server & database costs of the free users and still be a significant profit.

I need some advice on how to more intelligently pick a pricing model for this.

I'm also concerned that this might not be a SaaS style product and instead should just be a one-time purchase. I'm debating whether it makes more sense to scrap all of this and just charge a $5 one-time fee.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Charge more, Way more. If it's $10 a month, then try $100 for a Lifetime Deal.
Post it on appsumo marketplace to get an idea of what consumers want and how they like your product.
