Hey there Indie Hackers,
I'm working on defining/positioning PremiumJS and am struggling with the right words to use. I'd love your help to cut through my mental fog.
Here are a few ways I've tried to express it:
npm
cliIf you'd like some more context, here's the current landing page: https://premiumjs.com
Thanks!
Cheers,
Use as few words as possible and it must be about the user. People need to get it in microseconds and either say, "this is for me." or "I do not belong here."
Perhaps something like:
"Got A JavaScript Package? Want To Get Paid?"
Thanks, @ToddInsights! That helps!
When you talk to your current users and ask them why they use it, what do they tell you? What are the biggest benefits to them? What would their lives be like without it?
Looking at your landing page myself, the word "premium" doesn't resonate with me all that much. And your tagline just repeats what your headlines says without saying something different… it just says "premium" again:
So imo that's a wasted opportunity to say something different, to further educate your visitors.
I would probably try to grab people's attention with the headline using simple, emotionally resonant language that requires zero thought to understand, e.g. "Make money from your JavaScript packages". Then I would probably explain more below that, e.g. "PremiumJS allows you to list and sell the code you've written." Then I would answer specific implementation details and questions below that, e.g. npm-compatible, etc.
But this is just a guess. I think you need to talk to people to inform your guesses and turn them into real knowledge of what to say and how to say it.
@csallen, thanks so much for the thoughtful response.
You're totally right—reading the copy again fresh—it basically just says "premium" over and over. 🤦♂️
Also, totally right :) I'm working on that and tbh, that's the part that's always been hardest for me about building a business. Anyway, I appreciate the reply, have made some changes on the site, and plan on keep talking to folks and refining.
