Ocean - An online music-making community. Any advice on balancing growth with early monetisation?

https://www.oceanwaves.io

Ocean is a simple and fun way to make music in your browser. You can make tracks in real time with friends and share them with the world. Our aim is to create an accessible and affordable way to make music & break down barriers associated w making electronic music (learning curve / huge expense)

We launched earlier in 2020 & have got a good buzz during lockdown, with people from all over the world jamming together (which is an amazing feeling). We're at a promising stage where we've had 1000~ sign ups, getting good feedback which has lead to a bunch of iterations on UX/UI etc which has lead to increased 'tracks posted' and returning visitor engagement times.

We have some ideas for monetisation. free with sponsorship, freemium new features (we have a bunch of ideas for features) or a premium pay monthly model (with trail or free tier). All have pros and cons

Short term we were thinking of launching a patreon to try and cover our sever costs in the short term but see some people on IH with 1M+ hits reporting $5 a month....

Any input or ideas on this would be so great to hear & i'd be super open to talking more on zoom or whatever

Thanks kindly,

i've had great success with patreon: https://blog.patreon.com/monetization-strategies-bitcoin-pub

but, i didn't worry about monetization or growth. i just worried about building a great experience.

    do that before anything else.
