We cultivate a culture that makes it hard to book time on someone else's calendar, and encourages tools like slack and loom so that non-meeting, non-urgent communication can flow freely outside of meeting blocks.
We reinforce this habit with our 10% rule - individual contributors can't spend >10% of their time in meetings...
Two unintended consequences of our 10% rule:
1 - Creative forms of collaboration outside of meetings
2 - Phenomenal meeting preparation
This creates less interruption in between meetings and when meetings do happen, an agenda is always circulated in advance - everyone knows that we can't afford to forget something, and have to wait until the next meeting.
