Podcast player that updates quickly?

I'm building a service that, at the start, relies on podcast players to play a custom-generated podcast feed.

One usability issue I have is that most podcast players seem to only pull an actual refresh of a podcast feed when they want to -- even if you try to force them to -- by using a pull-down or whatever mechanism/interaction a particular podcast app provides.

I wonder if I'm doing anything wrong - like maybe my podcast feed/server is not sending the appropriate cache-busting headers, etc.?

I've verified that my feed is definitely getting updated because I can pull it up in my browser and see the newly-added items, I can see the appropriate 'no-cache'-type headers coming across, etc.

Thanks for any ideas.

It will be better if you can mention what Podcast player you're using. So that people can test that if the problem is with player or only in your case.

I've used Pocket Casts on Android, and Google's "Podcasts" app on Android, and Pocket Casts' web player.

      I've seen inconsistent results.

Pocket Casts on Android seems most resistant to updates.

Google Podcasts app (on Android) seems to update occasionally? That is, occasionally immediately after the feed is updated if/when I do a forced-refresh of the feed using the pulldown action in the app.

I don't remember what the Pocket Casts web player did.

I'll probably check back into it in a couple of weeks again.

      Thanks.
