Goodluck getting through all of these 🚀

Thanks for commenting! Haha, gonna take a while, but it's doable;)

But yeah, firstly, I would join online communities where your target audience hangs out and try to promote it there.

Secondly, Open up Quora or Reddit and search for questions people are asking that relates to your product and if your product answers them, suggest your product as the solution.

Alternatively, You could promote it by running online ads targeted at your target audience(Facebook & Twitter would be V.good for this) to drive installs.

      OR

You could start creating content around questions your target audience are asking, so for example, A user might be searching for stock alert apps, you could write a post like The best free tock alert apps

      Hope it helps

Thanks for commenting and for the kind words

I would join as many communities where your target audience are part of and promote the product in those communities but be careful as some of them have Guidelines, so you may have to check them so you're not violating any rule.

Alternatively, you could promote it on social media platforms, that way you can get lots of following .

      Hope it helps

I started to build in public, like posting updates on Twitter, but it felt really artificial, forced, and not me. I post here at times and it is very natural (sometimes salesy) but not feeling the same there. So thinking of posting whenever I feel like it on Twitter from now on.

Thank you so much for your time, you have a product/service? Couldn't find one on your profile, mind sharing here?

    2. Building in public and mostly promoting it in social media and communities
    3. My message and user-persona! Formito's main focus is on collecting data from website visitors and acting on that. I can call it a form builder, a chatbot builder, a tool to build micro-services, a user-enagement tool, lead generation tool, also I'm adding APIs so it can be use solely as a back-end. Regards user-persona, I don't know to focus on #NoCode community, WordPress/Shopify/Webflow-like users by developing plugins, or marketing people with lead generation message.
    1. 1

      Thanks for commenting hosshams

For user persona, I would suggest taking a look at companies you'd consider as competitors and see the various audience they are targeting, that way you can better have an idea of who to target. You could target agencies, saas/tech companies, lead gen companies etc basically anyone/company whose goal is to get a visitor to contact them through their website.

For the messaging, test different messaging until you find the on that works.

      Hope it helps

      1. 1

        Hi Sylvester,

Thanks for your advice. It's a little difficult to experiment with different messages with the current number of page visits that I have. I guess I'll create a /usecase or /solutions subdirectory for my website and target different audiences with different messaging. It would help with SEO as well. Then I'll watch my conversion rate to which landing page brings more signups. Based on the result, I'll update the main landing page to target the most promising audiences.

Also, I want to add a /tools section to the website to create free online tools that business owners/marketers might search for such as a favicon generator, logo maker, og-image designer, etc. This could be a good way to increase website visits.

Do you have any other suggestions that could help with increasing traffic? My current goal is to focus on adding more content to the website (SEO), creating free tools so I can promote them in online communities and social media without directly advertising Formito, Creating more templates, and creating a plugin for WordPress and probably an app for Shopify. Let me know if you suggest other channels.

        Thanks.

        1. 1

For increasing traffic, SEO works but I would suggest you start out with ads as its a new type of product and therefore, search volume might be very low. And it would take a while for you to start seeing the results.

I'd suggest you start out with Ads(if you have the budget) to generate awareness of the product and drive more visitors to your site.

          Hope it helps

P.S I would like to learn more about your product and see if there's any way I can be of help, what's the best email to contact you at?

          1. 1

Exactly, that's my plan for November or December after adding a few more pages to the website and payment blocks to the app. I got a $100 coupon code from Google Ads, I have to spend it :D

Thank you, I appreciate it. You can send me DM on Twitter (https://twitter.com/hosshams) or email to hello@ formito domain.

      Thanks for Commenting!

Glad that you're planning to test out FB(if you need any help with it, let me know, I'd be more than happy to help).

Firstly, you have to find out what differentiates you from your competitors as there are tons of email finders and capitalize on that. Also, on your website, you should tell visitors how your software works.

Secondly, you could start a PPC campaign to generate more brand awareness and also drive new signups just don't forget to adopt a full-funnel strategy to take potential users from being "problem aware to product aware".

alternatively, you could implement a full-funnel content strategy where you basically create content for visitors based on where they are in your customer funnel.
      e.g
Top of Funnel - How to find someone's email address
Middle of Funnel - software for finding emails
Bottom of Funnel - Best email finder software

Thirdly, Cold Outreach, yes, Cold Outreach, I recommend but only if you want to target more enterprise companies.

      Hope it helps!

Well that’s pretty awesome. My new product is a tool that helps artists, creatives, and business owners take control of the results of their business. You can see it at http://bnchmrk.app

Just started our marketing push. All content and partnerships at this point - blog, daily live videos, and a podcast. All starting this week!

Biggest challenge is awareness. Getting enough people to see our content and visit our site.

      Thanks for connecting Daren!

      Few tips
Try to share the content with your network and tell them to share it with their network also.
Join communities and push out value there, engage with posts, post relevant content etc Tell them what you're working on .
When you create the content, try promoting it with ads on social channels to widen the reach and gain more awareness.
Try to get industry leaders on your podcasts as they tend to have a very large audience that way you can tap into their audience.

      Hope it helps

I'd suggest you take a look at your top competitors(successful ones), study what they are doing currently and see if there's anything you can implement from their strategy.
Also, find gaps in their strategy that you can capitalize on.

For the second one, I totally understand, but they are people who could become customers, I'd suggest answering them and then picking up the conversation from there.

But in the meantime, I would suggest running social ads to drive more traffic to the site, also would try some influencer marketing.

Alternatively, you could start posting organically on social channels where your target audience hangs out.

For converting them to Paid customer, it all depends on how good the product is, It's not really about marketing to get them to convert per se, but having a good product that solves their problem.

    2. We have one productivity app(GroceryList on Android only) and one mobile word game app (Android & iOS); for both we use FB Ads, Google Ads to get installs
    3. FB ads for productivity seems to get lot of impressions/clicks but install rate is almost none. Google ads for both productivity app and game for Android and iOS seem to bring new install but the pattern from the campaign is like "Good start", "reach peak" in couple of days and whole thing halts completely in around a weeks time.(Install from clicks still remains at around 30%). Inspite of targetting only few handful of countries the campaign response seem to drop after some good couple of days performance , infact had to increase my daily spent 10 times based on recommendation from Google Ads, but cant spending that level so dropped back to original budget.
Hoping to find a reasonable way to build user base for Sarosi - Word game.
    1. 1

      Thanks for commenting Aravindhan!

For the grocery app, there are several reasons as to why you're getting lots of clicks, but no installs like you are targeting the wrong audience hence driving the wrong traffic, you're running conversion-focused campaigns to users higher up in the funnel etc. I would have to discuss further if possible do a campaign audit to see what you're doing wrong.

For the Productivity and Game, it's totally normal for your campaigns to have an initial sike in performance the early days and flatten out after some time As Facebook usually optimizes your campaigns for maximum performance for the first few days

A hack you could try would be to Pause campaigns that have dropped in performance for a day or two and enable them back that way Facebook restarts the learning process all over( it's like a way of tricking the algorithm into thinking its a new campaign)

RE: Hoping to find a reasonable way to build user base for Sarosi - Word game.

It says on the webstore, you have over 100,000 users currently, so, I’d think about how you convert power-users into promoters and referrers. A third-party endorsement is so much more authentic and trustworthy than even the best advertisement (and a whole lot cheaper!). And along the way, you’ll make the users you have even happier.

There’s likely a ton of people ready to be your promoter but just haven’t been nudged enough to go for it.

      So, I'd focus on that.

      Hope it helps

    Would appreciate any advice :)

    1. 1

      Thanks for commenting!

Firstly, for the ads, I would target users who use dating apps as I assume they form the majority of your audience.

Organically, join communities where your target audience hangs out and promote it there.

On getting feedback, this might sound overly simplistic, but it’s hard to beat just good old listening. What are they telling you in comments and forums? What are their big pain points? When you solve them, speak loudly! And conversely, when are they thrilled and most happy with you(That’s a great time for prompt-to-rate or referral requests.)

On getting press, develop a few key relationships with journalists, get those wins and build from there, rather than trying to get everyone’s attention all at once.

      Hope it helps.

P.S Did you do a redesign of your website? It's different from when I Visited it last.

RE: Finding the right channels to get conversions for our web development course

There really isn't any magic bullet, it just comes down to testing out various channels and honing down on the ones that yield the best results.

I would suggest you test/continue testing out different channels until you have enough data to validate which ones yielded the best results, vice versa, then go all out on the channels that won.

Firstly, the messaging is clear for who it's for, it's not for what it's all about. I couldn't figure out if it was an outreach tool for twitter or its a tool to help increase followers

I would work on that to make it clear.

      Hope it helps

        That's an interesting point.

It is an outreach tool that leads to more followers and brand awareness, which ideally leads to more sales, subscriptions, and followers on other platforms.

What would you suggest for a headline and sub headline on the website? Right now it is:

"Get More Followers, Subscribers, and Paying Customers Using Twitter Have 1000, 3000, or 5000+ carefully selected Twitter users see your content every month using mentions"

That's a good growth rate, to begin with, if it's consistent. I would suggest putting out more content on YT and using relevant keywords

The low carbon impact is a nice, little feature that differentiates this platform from others. I don't expect it to be the main driver, but for those for whom it matters (like me) it can be.

Hey @Sylvesterighodalo! That's an awesome initiative.

I'll try to ask for some advice but I haven't launched nothing yet. I want to create a community of makers on discord. Why a new community? Because forums are too slow imho. With Discord we can speak in real time with people, ask for feedbacks, receive and give help, find a partner and a lot more.

I'm also a maker and that would help me a lot to speak directly with other makers, doing networking, get to know some people better and more. This could speed up the whole process imho.

Any advice on how can I grow this community? Thats the link if you want: https://discord.gg/UMjUjB

Well, since you said people think it is a scam and are afraid to try it, that might be the reason why your marketing efforts are not paying off.

Also, try changing the messaging behind it, it comes off sketchy. You could also send some few samples to select individuals and let them give you feedback on it. If there love it, tell them to share it with their network and also leave a video testimonial.

      Hope that helps.

      Thanks for Commenting!

I agree with @Harrjm I would remove the tweets section of the site as it's not displaying anything relevant.

But some few tips I have for you on building an audience pre-launch,

      • Build an email list and encourage visitors to sign up. Your best option now is to offer a free resource that relates to your launch and add it as a gated content on your website.
      • Start posting on social media and developer communities.

      Hope that helps

      Thanks for commenting!

So far so good, you've got a good marketing strategy in place, keep it up!

For increasing organic leads, You should include CTAs on your blog posts at least you should have 2 CTAs on each blog post.
Also, introduce pop-ups on your posts. A good way to do this would be to make an e-book version of a particular blog post and when a user visits that particular post, you display the pop up asking them to enter their information to get the e-book. Be sure to use posts that are very in-depth and long.
You should also create content that solves/answers your customer's problems.

For CRO, try different experiments out to see if it improves your conversion rate e.g you could test Start For Free against start your free trial, and see how it compares against the latter.

For improving SEO Ranking, You could start a link building campaign to try to acquire backlinks. Also, create content worthy of ranking( content that's so good, Google has no choice but to rank it)

      Hope that helps

      Really awesome product you've got!

    1. https://pleke.com/ a free personal finance app

    2. Creating marketing message and introduction video for launch on Product Hunt

    3. Choosing the right message and marketing. My plan is to focus on those living paycheck to paycheck that were never able to create and stick to a budget, paying overdraft fees or interest in loans. Then I'd explain how people spend money without having it using credit cards and doing mental math - "I'll pay it next month with next month's income".

Then position Pleke as a free app that makes this mental math model clearer by using cash basis budget, so if one plays in cash/equivalent the expense affects this month's budget allocation and if they pay using credit card or a finance plan it affects future month's budget.

Besides that, show how Pleke makes conciliation easy because its current balance of accounts should be the actual balance or there are missing transactions and how it uses the budget to create recurring transactions and project the balance of accounts at the end of month in order to avoid overdraft fees.

    What do you think?

    1. 2

Thanks for commenting! lots of industry lingo, haha!

But yeah, for the messaging, the only advice I can give is just for you to test out various messaging angles to see what messaging resonates with your target audience. Otherwise, you cant figure out the right messaging to use from start, you have to test and see what clicks with your various audience personas.

For the marketing, I would run ads targeted at your target audience to get them to install the app.

      Hope it helps

I basically see your product as like the Toptal of the event industry, haha. So, I would try adopting strategies similar to these freelancing platforms

      Thanks for commenting Hamza!

      Awesome product you have!

      Some few tips regarding the content strategy;
Identify your goals for creating content, what do you hope to achieve with the content you plan to put out, know your audience and create content specifically for them, get an angle, decide on channels you would like to publish them on, run a content audit to see where you're lacking and improve on those areas etc. you could check out this post for more info on this(https://optinmonster.com/how-to-create-a-successful-content-marketing-strategy-in-8-simple-steps

Also, you could run a competitor content analysis where you research on your competitors content efforts and see what themes they are creating content around, what topics they've covered, the ones they haven't and see if you can find any gap in their content strategy that you can capitalize on.

Re: Making content about my product (tutorials).
I would only suggest this for existing users that are still trying to figure out their way around your product.

Remember, Always create content with an end goal in mind

3.Top challenge: Joining our Slack group and subscribing to newsletter.

    Thank you!

    1. 2

      Thanks for commenting Teodora!

Firstly, I would look for topics that would appeal to people who are in the early stages of their startup or who want to start something of their own(as I believe that's who your product is for, correct me if I'm wrong) and then I would create content around these topics.

Secondly, I would join relevant startup communities and promote the app there.

For the Newsletter, I would either add it at the conclusion of blog posts or put it as a pop-up for blog readers not website visitors. They have to show a level of commitment first by reading any of your blog posts.

Alternatively, you could encourage existing subscribers to share it with their network.

For the Slack group, I wouldn't suggest focusing on this now, I would rather focus on growing the newsletter first, maybe after the first 300+ subscribers, you can start focusing on the slack group that way you know a percentage of your subscribers would be willing to join the group.

      Hope it helps

I am not good in marketing so facing challenge to reach out the right audience and any help will be appreciated.

    Website https://feedlify.com/

Currently I have run a FB campaign

Challenges I am facing 1. Right content strategy, 2. Reach out to the makers with proper context.

    1. 2

      Thanks for commenting Andy!

Firstly, on the website, I would add and How it works Section or include a button to see a Demo - that way they can see the product in action.

Re: Currently I have run a FB campaign

Would love to know what your strategy is and how the results have been so far

      Let's face the Challenges.

      1. Right content strategy

Some few tips regarding creating content:

      • Search for questions your target audience are asking and try to create content around this first.
      • take a look at what your top competitors are doing in terms of content and see if there are any gaps and try to capitalize on that.
      • Reach out to your customers, see what their problem or questions they have and try to address it with your content. There's no strategy better than gaining feedback from your customers rather than following your guts or industry data

For creating the strategy, check out this post (https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/content-marketing-plan)

      Hope it helps

      1. Reach out to makers with proper context?

Hi @Sylvesterighodalo, thanks a lot for helping out the community!

    1. I have been working on building my product, ruttl.com
    2. Currently, I have 1500 users signed up for early access. A lot of it has resulted through social media marketing and spreading the word in my network. I have also started executing email marketing for all the signed up users and started giving them beta access.
    3. The biggest marketing challenge for me right now is to get more users to sign up and start using ruttl. I am aiming to increase the number of active users and hopefully increase the potential conversions when i officially launch the product to people and organizations at a defined subscription price.

I would appreciate it a lot if you can suggest a few ways in which I can improve the marketing for this product.

Super clean and neat Landing page. Two stripes to represent earning and spending and intersection as 'saving' conveys the concept in shortest form!

      Here are suggestions.

      • You haven't explained differentiating factors or value proposition. There are so many other financial apps available - why should users sign up with Spendyt?

      • How does it work? Just saying it is 'simple' or 'you have control' will not be compelling enough signup.

      • Privacy and data security -- address it in first landing page.

      1. 1

Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my landing page!

Those are very good suggestions, I'll definitely take a look on how to implement those. Much appreciated!

      Thanks for commenting Greg!

First of all, you reaching out on financial communities only, wouldn't help as a lot of people want ways to track how they spend so your product appeals to a wider audience.

Secondly, You could invest in paid marketing to generate more brand awareness and drive more conversions. (if you need help with this, let me know, I'd be more than happy to offer my assistance).

Thirdly, start a referral program to encourage existing users to refer their friends.

      Hope it Helps!

Marketing efforts are limited. Some blog posts, reaching out directly to other article writers, making sure we're on lists. We're currently working on our paid version.
We have no problem getting new signups, it appears to be almost wholly word of mouth.

Top marketing challenge(s) - getting a repeatable content marketing system going, ranking higher for search terms.

    1. 3

Hey @JamieHan I really like this tool & website, great job with it :)

Thought I'd give some quick feedback since outside of the OPs while it was in my head:

      • Would be nice to make the pricing more clear, currently, the only price information is in the page title 'Free Agile Retrospective Tool'.
      • Not sure how technically feasible it is, but it would be great if you could demo a board with or without a template before signing up. You could force sign up when the user wants to share the board or something. This is similar behaviour to codepen
      1. 2

Thanks @harlanzw! Metro Retro is still entirely free, we don't have our paid version public yet.

That's a great idea, and similar to something my co-founder and I were discussing this morning! We see it as minimal effort/investment to sign up and try but you're right, it could be even easier to get to the 'Aha' moment.

    2. 1

      Thanks for Commenting Jamie!

Firstly, I understand you're working on the paid version, but you could try changing the title as from first glance, I would think it would be completely free and if I should see a paid version in the future, it would come up as sketchy. So, maybe put somewhere on the website that says we are currently working on the paid version - so it won't come as a surprise to those who would sign up.

Re: Getting a repeatable content marketing system going, ranking higher for search terms.

All you have to do is identify your goals, know your audience and create content specifically for them, get an angle, decide on channels you would like to publish them on, run a content audit to see where you're lacking and improve on those areas etc. you could check out these posts for more info on this(https://optinmonster.com/how-to-create-a-successful-content-marketing-strategy-in-8-simple-steps & https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/content-marketing-plan)

For ranking higher for your search terms, it all comes down to creating content that is worthy of ranking. What do I mean? I mean creating content that is so good, readers can't help but share and link to it. The more links to it, the more Google sees it as content worth showing up in the top 5 results for that particular search term. One way to know if your content is good enough is you've read that same piece of content at least 3 times. Not because its hard to grasp but because each time you read it, you get a new idea or a fresh perspective to something.

      Hope it helps :)

    3. How to reach "Minimum Lovable Product" state?

Here are few things I noticed ..

      • Lower the clicks user needs to take to see the demo. For instance, your first call to action button 'See your SES templates' takes user to next page with message 'SES templates will appear here...' , with option to use 'Demo credentials' .. That are way too many clicks. Provide simpler way to see what they will get immediately.

      • Change the format of your videos . Use first 7 seconds of video to connect with users problem. Use following format ..

"It is painful to evaluate SES email template [Identify User problem] .

In this video I will show you how you can do it effectively with simple click of buttons [Promise a Solution]..

Hi my name is Sayee and ... [Introduce yourself as savior of user's problem].

Now we click here and there to get to solution [Solve the users problem].

Sign up now and see for yourself [Close video with Call to Action]"

P.S. I might have misspelled your name.

      Hakuna Matata!

So, firstly, I would work on the messaging as the copy on the website really doesn't tell me what the product is all about.

Secondly, reaching "Minimum Lovable Product" is all about user feedback. So if you don't have a lot of users, I would suggest you shift your focus to acquiring more users before thinking of reaching "MLP" but if the reverse is the case, then it all comes done to talking with your users/customers and asking them how the product could be better...what features matters to them, what doesn't etc.

Building a great product all comes down to listening to your customers cuz at the end of the day, you're not building it for yourself, you're building it for your customers.

If customer acquisition is part of the problem also, here are some few ideas you could implement

      1. Join AWS user communities and share your product there while also adding value.

      2. Segment the various problems your product solves and write blog posts addressing them and in the blog posts, pitch your product as the solution. For example, one your website you listed one of the problems of AWS as not having a place where you can see your email templates in a browser, you could write a blog post that explains how your product solves that exact issue and share it in the AWS communities you are in, that way you are promoting your product but at the same time adding value.

      3. Run ads targeted at people who use AWS, highlighting the benefits of your product. But you should not forget to adopt a full-funnel strategy. Your goal should be to take them from Problem aware to Product aware.

      Hope it helps!

        Very good advice all around.

I have joined the relevant communities but it seems to be a really slow way to get traction. On the other hand, I made a couple of YT videos which seem to convert pretty well with people coming to the website and lingering around to see its uses.

        Will definitely implement your reccos.

Btw, what's making you do this?

        1. 1

Yeah, promoting the product directly in communities isn't the fastest way, as you're not the only one doing so, so its a lot of noise but I would suggest not promoting the product directly but promoting content that solves a problem you know they would be facing that way you're not directly promoting your product but something which in it, lies the solution to their problem.

Alternatively, you could promote the content with ads to get a wider reach.

Re: Btw, what's making you do this?

Trying to give out value as much as I can and also, two heads are better than one.

Thanks for commenting Joe! Great Product you got going.

Finding bloggers shouldn't be hard unless you are targeting an audience that is very niche. Otherwise, what you could do is, you go on google and search for keywords relating to your product and simply look at the blog post that shows up in the result page and check for the author. Or you run a search query for [your product category] + bloggers e.g food bloggers.

      Hope it helps:)

    1. 1

First of all, I would improve the messaging on the website as it's not really clear what your product does and who it's for.

Secondly, I would work on the LP as the texts need to be bigger and stand out clearly(take Sendinblue for example, https://www.sendinblue.com/newsletter-software/).

Thirdly, you could run ads to your target audience to generate more awareness for your product. Or you could start creating SEO optimized content around the pain points of your target audience.

These are just ideas off the top of my head but hope it helps

Thanks for commenting Hans, great product!

      Just some few tips

I would start guest posting on blogs that are about sales e.g close.io, lemlist etc As they already have a good amount of readership so why not tap into their traffic.

Also, you could start putting out content, but, it might take a while to start seeing any results as you're in a competitive niche.

Alternatively, you could try paid ads.

      Hope it helps.

P.S You look familiar, I believe we're connected somewhere else before, haha

    https://kanbana.com

Kanbana is an iOS app + a web app that paying customers have access to.

The pricing model is freemium and customers pay either $5/mo or $24/year.

Currently I'm not doing any marketing but rely on my app store rating to attract new users. I have no experience with marketing and I don't know any good channels to market B2C apps - especially when you consider the low ARPU.

Signing up 20-30 users per day currently.

      Thanks for commenting!

if you don't have the budget to spend on ads, I would suggest you focus on ASO by conducting in-depth keyword research, adding videos, revamping creatives, text etc. Also, focus on improving your App Store rating.

Alternatively, if you have the budget to spend on ads, then I'd suggest running FB app install campaigns to drive more installs. You could also run Apple search Ads to enable your ad show up at the top for related keywords.

You could also try influencer marketing

      Hope that helps

For the first product, I would evaluate if there is a market for it first before starting any marketing effort. I don't think very many people who want to buy 3rd printers would go on google to search for websites to buy 3D printers I believe they'd just type in Buy 3D printers.

For the book, I would try sharing it in some developer communities.

      Hope it helps

      Some few tips would be

      • Figure out who your target customers are
      • Find out the various places they hang out
      • Find out their major problem when it comes to product stock
      • Reach out to them and tell them how your product can help solve their problem.

      Hope it helps
