Product Hunt Challenge - Launch your product vol.1

Hi, fellow indie hackers. It's me manyTomas, and I have thought about another hacking session that we can do together. But this time it will take a little more effort to win.

The goal is to launch your product on Product Hunt and get some traction by supporting each other on the launch day with upvotes.

The challenge is the path. If you join this hacking challenge, you will have 30 days to prepare your project/service/application for the launch day.

While you will be preparing your app for launch, you should share your progress with other members of the challenge as well as other indie hackers so if they will like what you are doing; they can support you too.

Other than sharing your progress, you should also ask the questions when you need help and also provide feedback to other members if they need it.

I will be pleased if some indie hackers who already made a successful launch on Product Hunt will become the mentors to members of the challenge, and so they will increase the plausibility of a successful launch.

After 30 days, your app will be launched by hunter on Product Hunt and get support from other participants as well as indie hackers.

Bullet points:

  • Goal: Launch your product on Product Hunt and get some traction by supporting each other on the launch day with upvotes
  • Timespan: 30 days
  • Get ready your app and share your progress
  • Ask for feedback, learn, get better
  • Help other participants
  • Mentors help

I will take care of all administration here > https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bkjkk0s1hvAWZju8X0VuOKWm0_wBj4mlnyYsXJY6oEI/edit?usp=sharing.

I am curious. I never really paid attention to product hunt.

I have a project in very specific domain - math education. Does it even fit into product hunt?

Second question: what conditions a product needs to satisfy to be considered "ready" for product hunt?

    1. 1

      it doesn't matter the domain..

i've posted a project with a niche audience and got it featured in their newsletter. Even if it didn't went that well (130 upvotes till now), I had been doing zero marketing and preparations. However it tooks some months to be featured. I simply forgot I've submitted the site there.

This is the project -> https://www.producthunt.com/posts/mowned

      1. 2

Well, that's what I wanted to ask. Should I do some "special" preparations, or just continue working on my website and post it there in 1 month?

        @manyTomas ?

        1. 1

I think that you should continue working on your project to get it ready. I don't know in what state your project is. If it's a blank website with no content or functions,, then it is not ready for launch yet I would say :D

        2. 1

Here's the link to the newsletter where the project has been featured.

          https://www.producthunt.com/newsletter/3040

          1. 2

            I like your project!

I am not personally interested in it, but I know many phone hobbyists.

I love projects that target really exotic niches. :)

        3. 1

Personally i didn't and had no network to help me with upvoting / reaching higher.

It was not a successful "launch", maybe because of niche, maybe because of the project itself, maybe because lack of reach (because had no help). But somehow the guys from PH liked the idea, otherwise why I've been featured there? :P

I just made sure to pick some nice screenshoots and to write a decent text. Then it all went natural...

Then again, i am no expert, and not a fan of "hacking x scheme". I prefer "organic" versus "artificial".. but that's just me.

    2. 1

Hi. Yes, why not? Look here, for example, https://www.producthunt.com/search?q=math. People launch there almost everything that has potential to grow and make money.

      1. 1

        Wow, you blew my mind.

I was so sure that math would not fit on product hunt, that I did not even bother to check, lol.

        Thanks!

        1. 1

Hah ... you are welcome ... i just enter "math" to the product hunt search ;)

    1. 1

Yes, why not. How was the launch?

      1. 1

        Lets do it!

We're actually doing the launch right now (it's going well but waiting to hopefully get featured).

        1. 1

Inform me then if you will relaunch. And by the way, your experiences will be helpful for indie hackers in this challenge.

    1. 1

Nice. I have added you to the challenger list. If you are ready to launch what are you going to do the next 30 days? :)

      1. 1

        There are less, right? :)) 25 I guess .
I planned to launch on Product Hunt, but I can wait, if I can get better traction.

        1. 1

It's up to you. I would not last another 25 days, and I would not rely on better traction from this initiative. If the product is good, people will upvote it. And the truth is that you can relaunch the product several times and not rely on just one launch. Therefore, just do it. Please let me know I will upvote it for sure.

          1. 1

Tomas, do you have any idea how to maximize the possibility of got better visibility? Do you think I should find some hunter?

Hello @botvader. It doesn't matter how long you have been working on your project. The important thing is that you want to push it further and help other indie hackers with their launch. Welcome on board.
