Hi everyone,
I wrote a blog post today about my journey about making the decision to quit my job to start a consumer facing data science business. I thought it would be helpful to detail the journey.
Specifically I wanted to focus on the mental models I used to re-frame / justify quitting my job. Although this is definitely hindsight bias given it's worked out for me.
Three main points for TLDR if you don't want to read the article here: https://www.interviewquery.com/blog-reflecting-on-bootstrapping-our-data-science-business/
1: Measure your opportunity cost through business growth.
2. Quit your job if your values can be re-prioritized by doing so.
3. Build confidence in yourself by understanding that even if you fail, you've probably learned more than anyone not even trying.
