Release app with a missing feature?

Hello everybody!

I'm currently coding an iOS app that automatically tracks and saves your push up workouts. The main functionality is already written and works just fine - but now I want to implement statistics which need some graphs that need much time to create, since I am not using a library (or at least trying not to use one, because the only ones available for SwiftUI are buggy).

I actually wanted to submit the app this coming week but if I keep working on the statistics functionality, that won't happen for the next two weeks (as I have very limited time).

Now I thought about displaying a "Coming Soon" View for the statistics tab and releasing the app with the main functionality and some features like daily reminder and a list of all workouts finished.

About pricing: The app is completely free to use, it only shows an ad banner at the bottom which can be removed with a one-time purchase of $4.99

Now what is your opinion, fellow IndieHackers? Should I ditch the statistics to get it out ASAP or should I concentrate on completing the statistics first, before releasing the app?

    Definitely release it ASAP!
Be aware that even if you release your app without the statistics tab feature, it won't bother as many people as you might think (from the founder point of view). The entire planet won't come to download your product on the release day, and see "oh there is no statistics here" and leave forever without coming back.

Just release it, and continuously build the statistics feature and release it once it's done.
It can also shows a sign of being an actively developed product. It helps to bring back existing users by sending some newsletter email about a major update.

For now, just display a "Coming Soon" and release it!

Release it. You can add stats later. Chances are you need to ship updates, anyway

  3. 1

Release it immediately. Some features like search or displaying statistics are not important when app is brand new anyway. There is nothing to search/graph yet!

Realistically, the amount of users you will have at launch will be minimal... if any. It is easy to get away with code crimes at this stage.

If your main functionality is done - i.e. the value proposition your app gives to users - I think you should release it. There's nothing wrong with releasing a MVP with some features upcoming.
