Remembering Kobe (Day 293)

I was a Michael Jordan fan for a long time. His will to win is inspiring. He lost my admiration completely after the "Last Dance" documentary. Competitiveness is different from holding grudges and mistreating others, in my view.

I like Kobe because it's always entertaining to watch him play. What inspires me the most is his work ethics. His personality is totally different from M.J., too, you can feel his quick wit and sense of humor and love for people from many of his interviews. I don't wanna be Mike. I wanna be Kobe.

Of course, in Kobe's generation, he's always subject to the Lebron comparison. Lebron is probably more accomplished objectively in the basketball world. He is also vocal about his causes. His work ethics is impeccable, too. But to quote a comment from my best friend, to him, Lebron is "delusional and always creating his own narrative". He is simply not as likeable as Kobe to me outside of basketball.

I still have the "Mamba Mentality" on my coffee table. To be honest, I have only read snippets here and there, but looking at the cover alone would remind me how important work ethics is!

Not sure why so many legends die young. But thank you, and R.I.P. Kobe.
