Roast and Get Roasted Thread (post your projects)

Dear Indie Hackers,

Post a link to your project here, and let everyone roast it.

(Constructive roasting only please)

I'll start https://kleu.io/

Todays our launch day so feeling extra brave.

(Don't be too mean)

  1. 1

Hi all! Introducing Clusterly.(ai). Would appreciate feedback about my landing page.

    Cheers,
    Àlex.

    1. 1

I think that it would be better if the home page and what-is-career-move change places. I had some difficulty understanding whether this is curated blog posts site for career move stories or actual service that directly puts you in contact with people that walked the walk. I guess the design itself tricked me to think something like that.

    1. 1

Solid idea - I could see this being fun since everyone is stuck at home. I also like the simplicity of the landing page - easy to use and all the info is presented well.

One question I have is who are the chefs and why are they qualified to teach me how to cook? I feel like providing some background on the chef swill make it feel more personal.

      1. 1

Hey Oleg, thats a great point. It's a mix because its been a constant debate f ours.

Which direction to go?: Smaller number of higher caliber chefs with more expensive classes or more of a true community where there can be a variety of classes/skills/classes by skilled everyday people.

I'd love to get your take on this dilemma.

        1. 1

IMO having a smaller number of high caliber chefs will make it easier to maintain high quality classes while you develop the other side of your marketplace. Once you're satisfied with some of your processes and are confident that you'll be able high quality classes then you can gradually open it up to other "skilled everyday people".

          1. 1

Great to have some affirmation on that thought, definitely the way we have been leaning!

    2. 1

Have to say I like the directness of the site, clean and very unambiguous. Not something I'd be into right now but cool niche.

    1. 2

Interesting. Basically Bashboard, but for logs. Curious to see if you get any success. Looks like your twitter at least has a decent following :)

    2. 2

It wasn't really clear to me what logging means. I had to interpret the code snippets after I clicked "Start to Log Stuff".
I would definitely kill the ambiguity by telling what is the purpose of the service in a glance. Also, what would be useful is documentation and use cases. I would like to know what problem is going to solve for me if I sign up.

      1. 1

I updated the landing page with more details. Please let me know your thoughts.

    3. 2

It's nice that I can see how easy the code is, but I'd change the landing page a bit. It wasn't clear to me initially it's about application logs. It could've been a journal app etc.

Also there's no further info without signup like pricing, privacy policy, documentation etc?

      1. 1

I updated the landing page with more details. Please let me know your thoughts.

        1. 1

Yes it's better. The screenshot is useful. I would not say monitoring as this is a big and broad topic. Your service is about logging. I still would add more info and documentation for such a product. I need to be sold that it's worth my time to sign up.

    4. 2

Tempted to sign up, I'd prefer a bit more documentation and info on limits prices etc before I do. Great idea though

      1. 1

I updated the landing page with more details. Please let me know your thoughts.

    1. 1

I love it how clear the site puts it of what the service does. Good job! And great idea as well! :)

    2. 1

Dope idea. Would be useful to include some more info as to who can apply. Is it only available in the US etc

      1. 1

Yeah that is a good point. Planning on adding that this afternoon since I was getting a lot of signups that weren't really eligible.

    3. 1

This is a super cool idea. Do you have to be a registered company in order to apply? How many hours of mentorship would the apprentices typically need? Is there a way for the apprentice to continue beyond the initial 3 months?

      1. 1

Thanks! By registered company, do you mean incorporated or something else?

We currently require availability for at least 2 hours of mentoring each week in order to make sure the apprentice can get questions answered and learn.

Our hope is that startups love the apprentice so much that they keep them full-time. If the company does not offer them a position by the 3rd month, we work to place the apprentice in a full-time job with another company.

        1. 1

Hi Rod, thanks for the answers. Yes, I meant if the entity needs to be an incorporated company? Does it have to be in the US?

Great. Would you be able to give me an idea regarding the expected salary for the apprentice once the initial 3 months is over?

          1. 1

I see that the company needs to be in US or Canada from your website. So please ignore my first question.

    4. 1

wow this is a real great idea! I was an apprentice myself at one point so is great to have a platform providing opportunity to connect. The page is clear and concise, I do have some feedback.

      1. The hero image has some blue and red circles and lines that conflicts with the image. I think the image of the person looking at the screen would look better without those colors in it.
      2. Not sure if the image of the apprentice in the What can apprentices do for you? section adds any meaning. IMO if conflicts with the information you are trying to provide there and it removes focus from the information in the section. I would say removing the image would be better or a different layout.
      1. 1

Good point on the hero image. Was thinking that and was putting it off but you gave me the extra push to change it.

For the other image, that is probably a good observation. I was trying to have as many real people in the site as possible but there is a lot of information there that could be cleaned up if there was no image.

        Thanks for that feedback!!

    5. 1

Interesting idea. I would try it in the future, but currently I don't have a capacity for mentoring.

    6. 1

Looks good and I signed up! Can't say I'm interested in a referral scheme though.

Regarding the apprentices as a full stack dev I would be looking for people more on the marketing and content side.

      1. 1

There's mixed reviews on the referrals part but still testing. For marketing apprentices, check out acadium.com. Thanks for checking out the site!

    1. 2

I love it and I want to try the app soon. Still didn't upgrade to iOS 13 as I told you before.

      About the page:

      But this is all minor.

      1. 1

        Thanks Kai!

        • Hm, not sure how to fix the red circle thing. I see it too now. 🤷‍♂️
        • Yea I like that too! I've been meaning to improve my "features" section
        • Was thinking about doing this too! Thanks for the inspiration!
        1. 2

It's tiny details anyway. I am 100 % sure you have more impactful work than fixing this now.

          1. 1

True, its always a difficult balance!

    2. 2

Don't have much to say. The page is simple and beautiful. I signed up for beta!

Don't know if you already have it but I would love to have push notifications. Mail is already too busy. I rather not have an average of 10 mails everyday from IH when I already have the website open almost all the time.

      1. 2

Push notifications are on the roadmap 👍

      2. 1

Thanks Hakan! Looking forward to hearing your feedback/requests!

    3. 2

Difficult to roast. Looks very good

I'd have a rethink of your copy:
Browse IH faster than mobile web - fair enough but
Filter posts, milestones and groups - can you not do this on IH anyway? doesn't seem like a feature

Can you get IH notifications? - would be a good point to add

Have a look at the copy on this https://www.reddit.com/mobile/download?ref=producthunt

Also the FAQ link doesn't seem to go anywhere at the moment
      -

      1. 1

Thanks a lot for the feedback!

Filter posts, milestones and groups - can you not do this on IH anyway? doesn't seem like a feature

Its a feature, just not a very compelling one 🙂
To use your example (the Reddit app's landing page), the first feature they list is

Browse and upvote the best of the web. Get the latest and newest news, trends, and memes on the Internet first on Reddit. Best of all, you get to decide what’s worthy: Top content rises thanks to your upvotes.

You can do this on the Reddit website anyway, but its worth highlighting that you can also do it from this app.

Also the FAQ link doesn't seem to go anywhere at the moment

Yea not sure what I was thinking there. Its kind of a placeholder for now I guess 🤷‍♂️

    1. 2

It's a cool idea and it's nice I can immediately try it. But the total lack of headers and explanation is a bit strange. Maybe add a minimum bit of copy to explain what it is? The tags are hard to read contrast wise.

      1. 1

Thanks @kaioelfke! That styling issue has been bugging me! Made updates per your recommendation - thanks so much! Anything I can help with?

        1. 1

I like the header and subheader that appear now, but still the tags are unreadable contrast-wise.

If you want you can review my project: https://meetfriends.app

          1. 2

Meet friends looks very cool. Definitely addresses a problem I have, I suck with keeping up to date with people; but I guess I also choose not to because if they respond I have to keep entertaining them lol.

I like that you have reminders as well! Definitely downloading this.

Are you planning to have a web version of this? Would be nice to get some notifications from Chrome while I work to remind me

EDIT: I saw you don't have an android version, so couldn't download

            1. 1

Thank you! I'm considering Android. In the web version there's no API for device contacts as far as I know and this is a privacy first product. I don't want to upload the contacts to external servers.

Wouldn't it be distracting you from your work? Did you consider just allocating some blocks of time in your calendar? In this time you could catch up.

but I guess I also choose not to because if they respond I have to keep entertaining them lol.

You mean in a chat? Unless something is really important what stops you from replying in a certain time window only and not instantly?

              1. 1

Hey @kaioelfke that makes sense! I remember being able to get a person's contact list from the Gmail Contacts API - I had intended to get a person's email contacts - but it gave me their phonebook contacts instead. So you might have some luck there (esp with android devices), otherwise I would opt to let a person add contacts themselves? Or use facebook api? If that's the direction you wanna take in the long run.

And yeah, I would use this app to show friends that I still care about them - but I don't wanna message 10 friends, and have to respond to them all day just because I said hi lol.

                1. 1

Yes, true but that would only work for Google contacts.

I try to help people with mindfulness. According to the research by Dunbar we don't really have the time to keep in touch with a lot of people. So it can be good to focus on just a bunch of people. And then it's recommended to meet them not just chat.

When many people write me while working I simply reply back later in a block of a hour. I don't like this idea of urgency that we should always reply immediately.

    2. 2

Hey so design wise you have some issues with white font on light grey backgrounds (viewing on Android). Just had a look on desktop and looks totally fine.

I'm not getting the value proposition of vooiced it seems like a collection of unrelated audio clips maybe I'm missing something

      1. 1

Thanks @Expressus Light mode and dark mode on iOS has been tricky! Thanks for the suggestion re value proposition - adding it to the banner, will just make it disappear once the user logs in; I felt it would take up too much real estate but I think hiding it might fix that problem!

    1. 2

I want to try it without making an account.

      1. 1

+1 Didn't want to go through the signup process just to try it.

      2. 1

This comment was deleted 4 years ago.

    2. 1

Man this is an awesome idea, is this free(mium)? I'd agree and say I'd probably want to try the app at least without having to create an account. Maybe integrate with google login or something if you think they are absolutely necessary.

    1. 2

I would like to search for a hex color and generate things with it.

      Do you know https://coolors.co/ ?

      1. 1

        I love coolors.

Colors and Fonts are curated styles not a generator. All the styles are curated by hand by hand by me, so they are usable 100%.

        1. 1

"All the styles are curated by hand by hand by me, so they are usable 100%."

This differentiator and value prop wasn't clear at all to me.

          1. 1

That's true, I still haven't put up the descriptions. I was planning to do it when I finish a couple of tools.

            Thank you for the reminder!

    2. 2

Nice work, lovely design, some interesting tools in there I've bookmarked for later

      1. 1

Thanks mate! That means a lot me, I mean it.

    3. 1

Good taste. Congrats. Love it and will use it.

My two cents would be only at the resource page: logos inside cards look too big on a laptop resolution.

      1. 1

        Thanks a lot.

In what resolution are you? That's Bulma.io break points... they are too high.

          1. 1

Oh...will have a look mate. Thanks a lot.

    1. 3

I don't totally understand what it actually is. It's a bit too abstract for me.

      1. 1

Thanks for that feedback @kaioelfke. I have gotten the same sentiment from a couple others. I will refine the wording to make it more clear. Thanks for taking the time to look at it. :)

    2. 2

I think I have a grasp on your concept and it seems very cool, so take this with a pinch of salt as I could be off the mark if I have the concept wrong.

      Your tagline is quite wordy:
      Welcome to Open Source Capital
A Community built around Financial Sovereignty and Taking Projects to the Next Level

      Try:
A Financial Sovereignty Community to take Your Project to the next level

But tbh, I still don't know what a Financial Sovereignty Community is.

Maybe try Kickstarter meets Venture Capital or something more tangible.

Also, i like how high quality the video is in the background but you've had to darken it a lot for contrast and it makes the whole page feel very dark.

      1. 1

Hi @Kleu, That is great feedback. Thanks very much for taking a look. I like your points and I will be making some adjustments over the next day or two. Really appreciate you taking a look. I like your point on the video too. I'll see can I make it look a bit more fresh :)

    3. 2

Design is clean, professional corporate looking but lacking distinction or anything memorable. I think the background videos are lacking specificity (I get this is early stages)

I'm not sure what I'd be signing up to or what the benefits are, the message to me is vague, could do a better job of outlining the 'how' and not just the 'what'.

      1. 1

Thanks very much for taking a look @Expressus. Really appreciate it. It is early stages for sure and I will be iterating as I continue to get feedback. Will take all your points on board my man. Much appreciated.

  2. 1

Ask: feedback both on the design and usability of the site.

Current status: trying to grow database with user submitted estimates. This is going to be the tough part with growing this site.

    Roast away!!

Hi guys, I'm coin data school and I'm new here. I recently launched a guide on Uniswap V3 LP. I didn't do a landing page. Just created several twitter threads. I'm listing them in the order I tweeted below. Only sold 13 copies so far, would love to hear your feedback and advice on how to craft tweets to shill it more. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I think this is an amazing idea. Can you roast, https://squidstartups.com/ ? Thank you!

  5. 1

https://autoiterative.com/ - looking forward to be roasted!

  6. 1

A bit late to the party, but if anyone sees this, roast away! tendii.io

  7. 1

    Hey @Kleu

Great move. Like your hero section and great color choice!

    Ok - roast:

    • The website body seems weak, would love to see more information why I should use the product
    • Call-to-action buttons seems misplace, maybe re-order a bit and test if any conversion occurs?

Keen to get roasted on a side project: www.ventureslist.com

  8. 1

    purplegenie.ca

Did a soft launch today (looking for beta testers & feedback). I know the UI could be better but difficult to prioritize new features for the app vs. external stuff. Please let me know what you think! Thanks guys

    1. 2

Hi Hollywood, I like the aesthetic of the landing page. I would put more focus on what value you will bring to your target market. Be more assertive in saying this is going to deliver XYZ. Testimonials could be very powerful.
      Cool idea. Keep it up!

      1. 2

Great, thanks so much Matt! Working on getting 1-2 testimonials just difficult in the early stages. It's a chicken or the egg problem..

  9. 1

@Kleu - I got a little distracted by the hero image and the COVID banner. It took a minute to see that you are offering video learning with experts and just need interaction with the search field to narrow down the search.

I also noticed the site took a bit to load - have you considered looking at improving page speed? I have a good amount of experience in making sites blazing fast. Lemme know if I can help!

    1. 2

Nice design. I like the overall appearance. What I would rethink our selling point/presentation. Because her is what happened to me after I clicked your link:

      1. looked at the images on the left
      2. read the two caption lines
      3. Started thinking "what is this thing doing? What should I organize? Why not fancy?"
      4. The temptation to leave came. Which I did not because I came from this post :-)
      5. In the 4th sentence, I read the "tasks" word and then I got it, it is a task manager; todo list thing
      6. and then I tried to figure out what makes your task manager special then the others hundreds I look at, say nice, and move on. But hey, I am not a task manager guy, so I am not in your audience :-) But they might have a similar thought-process.
      1. 1

Thanks for the awesome feedback - I'll be sure to pass this on to my UX resource.

    1. 1

Love the design. Did you do it yourself / use a framework?

This is awesome - it was easy to see the results of a comparison of two banks after no more than two clicks. Great pattern and I think you nailed keeping user interaction dialed in.

      1. 2

Thanks. Yep designed it myself in Figma, kept it simple as it was the first time building in Webflow. Loving webflow at the moment.

    1. 1

Like the overall design and the statement is good. Except for the "optimized"-part it was totally clear what the tool does.

The 3 images below distracted me too much from the benefits text.

The feature list looks ok. But what I really would like to see is the chrome extension in action so I can see for myself how it can save me time. Show me the thing.

    1. 1

It's beautiful. I have one remark about the thumbnails of the meditations. They aren't descriptive enough IMO, I had to click each meditation to find out what is different from the other. Also, I'd work a bit on the design. The thumbnails seem like videos that are going to start playing then I press "Play". Instead, I go into details about the meditation.

      1. 1

        Thanks for your feedback.

What icon would you expect instead of the "play"?

        1. 1

I think, either you leave the play button as it is, but when clicked, actually play the sample for the user. In that case, you have to make button or something for going into details where they can buy it.

          or

Remove the icon. This way users will be aware that they will go into details about the chosen meditation. If i'd go with this option, I'd design the thumbnails to be more descriptive. Peek at what I'm going to get if I click it (think YouTube thumbnails).

          Hope this helps! :)

    1. 2

I think the design fits the gaming purpose. But what I did not get is if it's about digital versions of board games. Is it like any other online game? Or is there still a physical board involved as in board games with friends?

      1. 1

Thanks for this, the games are purely digital, but not quite like most other online games in that our games are generally designed to play like traditional board games instead of video games.

I will work on making that format of the games more clear with more direct examples on the landing page.

  10. 1

    https://www.browserreplicator.com
finished today (still small touches required), will "launch" tomorrow or in a couple of days. this was just an idea in february 2020.
inspiration came from multiaccount sports betting :'D

  11. 1

Love the landing page design for kleu.io !! One feedback. I don't see any kind of error messages when you search something that's not available-- it's just a blank page. Otherwise, great work!

    Here's my project: www.chromabill.com

    1. 1

Hey Chromabill, great spot. Will add that to the list of the many things I need to change!

Main note about your site - app renders look super slick + love the colourfulness of the site. The copy says :

A brand new way to organise your bills:
Why would anyone want that? Surely what people actually want it to keep on top of their bills - why not sell it through the pain point

Also : A first-ever colour-coded system to dynamically manage your bills. - although I get that its a great and probably very useful feature - why would i care. Sell through pain point again? - "No other app lets colour codes your bills to organise them" or something like that

  12. 1

https://www.feedbackchief.com - online tool for collecting users' feedback.
The feedback tool needs your feedback!
    Thanks!

    1. 2

Looks very clean, but one thing missing is that your companies branding is lost and instead your landing page really takes on Slack's colors and branding. I see your logo in the Slack screenshot, I think that could use some work (looks pretty dated IMO).

      1. 1

Thank you Justin! Will rethink about the branding.
I got the same feedback about the logo from others.

    1. 2

Really nice animations and overall style

      1. 1

        Hey, thank you 🙏

  13. 1

All right, I will roast you If I get roasted in return ;)

    About kleu:

    • To start of I got the impression the site is not rendering properly here. Using FireFox. Maybe worth to check out if things render the same in different browsers.
(Therefore warning, things I write below are based on what I see displayed here currently.)

    • It actually is not clear to me what it is about, when visiting the landing page. I see a search function, but no have no clue what to search on? Is it a new search engine? Maybe good to make that clear on top of the page, people should know what your business is about in a split second.

    • It seems like your "find an expert" link in the topnav is not working? (trying here in FireFox)

    • Maybe just write the categories full out directly. The clicking is unnecessary work imho. Displaying them directly could also provide the benefit of letting people know what it is about sooner.

    • Work a bit on the styling. Fill the pages completely and make the experience more uniform. Now it feels a bit like open ends/unfinished pages.

Nevertheless, good job for launching this site! The brevity of my remarks is just to make the feedback concise and clear :)

Curious about your roast of me: https://releaserecord.com

    1. 1

      Hey zwambelis
Great feedback! Thank you. definitely will work on all those points!!

      Releaserecord:

I understand what it does, but what pain point does it address - like why would I need to keep track of releases and how would it help me do that - like would i keep having to check back onto the site for it to tell me what's been updated ?

      aesthetic points:

      • the site looks very 90's - very functional - but not beautiful
      • the RR at the top of the page - feels very unnecessary - esp when it says release record above it
      • on the ubuntu box - buntu
        • 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa) - this text sticks out of the box
      1. 1

You are most welcome, happy to be of help to you.

Thanks for your points, very helpful too. I've been working on the restyling today, hope to launch later this week.

        With regards to the usefulness.
The problem it solves is that every software runs it's own release notes on their own website, all with unique formats and jargon. Imo it will be helpful to both developers and productowners to centralize releases and use a uniform format for release notes.

I've planned to create automatic (email) notifications and an API where you can pull latest versions. Hope to have that finished by the end of the week for the big launch.
I agree it is not clear yet, thanks for pointing that out!

    1. 1

Love the immediate call to action with the "claim" input.

I didn't find the screenshot to be particularly informative or helpful. I did get the fact that there is chat and video functionality, but not much else.

Looks great overall though, very nice work!

    2. 1

Your service looks pretty nice! It takes a little bit to understand what it is, though.
      Good luck!

      1. 1

What confused you or what is not clear on the first look?

        1. 1

It was not clear for me, what exactly your product does and who your users are.

  14. 1

https://quantqon.com just announced this on my social media on May 1st. The harsher the feedback, the better.

    1. 1

You're just 15 and you remind me how I was 5 years ago. Haha! I learned to code when I was around 12 or 13. I'm turning 20 next week. Your website looks nice. A lot of challenges, lessons, and victories ahead. I'm sure you'll be a great person someday. 😃👋

    1. 1

      Cool idea.

The initial impression is a bit sad, dark, melancholic, because of this dark photo. Is it only to make the white text readable?

Otherwise I would consider it, but changing my apartment is not a priority for me right now.

    https://meetfriends.app

    About kleu:

It's hard to understand what it actually is. I would work on your copy and test it with people, to see if they understand it.

When I search for bike mechanic or pizza chef nothing appears. Is there a problem with your site?

The categories with different fonts look a bit strange to me. Did you try having the same font?

In general the user experience could be better I think. Ask some people to surf on your site and ask them to explain what goes through their mind, while doing that.

    1. 2

Hey Kaioelfke, thanks for looking!. Yeah deffo taken on board and need to change the examples, as we don't have enough users to fill them at the moment. The font was a bit of a gamble, I'm gonna have a play around with a few different ones and see what I can come up with.

      Meetfriends:
Like the concept however, the name makes it a little confusing.
Overall the site is very clean, clearly directing you towards getting the app

It would be nice if it showed you how it reminds you - does it give a notification? maybe show a gif of one popping up on a phone?
Also it took me till the bottom of the page to find out its free. Consider putting this at the top - maybe instead of "Start keeping in touch"

      1. 1

Yes, got the feedback from many about the name.

Good idea with the notification gif. Thanks.

It's freemium to be precise. I'll highlight it more.

    1. 1

Like it. It is clear and easy to see if there is something for me.

What is your niche? How is it different from other job boards?

    2. 1

Are you looking for a job is very general.

It's not clear how this differentiates from the many other remote job boards / newsletters.

    1. 1

I don't understand what differentiates this from other blogging solutions. And then it's hard for me to understand why I should try or if this is relevant / more useful for me than other solutions.

    1. 1

How are you going to convince the customers to download the Wise Notifications app?

    2. 1

Your hero/jumbotron whitespace seems off. Not enough padding between top navbar and your H1 text and too much padding below it.

Love the font though and the rest of the design looks very smart.

  17. 1

https://opencs.co <- working on a website to have free programming courses, tutorials, and references (Working on adding the content now, but the structure is done).

    1. 1

Looks like a lot of effort and ambition in terms of how much content you want to write.

Do you know https://bento.io/ ? It's a great resource of free content to learn CS things.

      1. 2

All those cards were just for test purposes. I will pad it down by a lot and I already have some of the courses written. The rest of the content I will write as I go through getting my Computer Engineering degree. The reason I'm building this site is because I learn better by taking notes and I thought that if I'm already writing everything down that I might as well publish it to help other people.

    2. 1

Love the mission but the design looks like a programmer did it

      1. 2

haha. I kind of thought that but I decided to keep it simple for now. Thanks for the feedback!

    1. 1

Thanks @JamieO @jkchu @kaioelfke. I changed the copy yesterday to try some new things out and noticed a drop in signups today as well, so thanks for pointing this out as well! Will test new copy.

    2. 1

I do like the clean look of it all, but that made the use of the robot emoji feel very out of place. Also the coloring of words in the indie hackers quote felt random to me and didn't add much value for me.

And as others have said, what your product actually does was not very evident from the get go.

    3. 1

It's a bit hard to understand how the thing actually works. I got it only from the last section. Before that I was a bit skeptical.

    4. 1

Is it just me or does this paragraph not flow nicely? Wouldn't be so critical but you ARE selling copywriting...

"As enthusiastic as you are you want to tell all about your product and startup to show your customer how awesome you are. Only talking about which features your startup offer, is like going on a date while the other person is bragging to you for 2 hours."

    1. 1

Maybe rethink the name. I actually thought is has to do somwthing with meditation as zen usually suggests.

    1. 2

Very nice. Clear and great design. I sign up now.

      1. 1

I'm glad you like it. Looking forward to hear what topics you love talking about!

    2. 2

I actually love everything about this, very difficult to roast :) Great idea, love the unique design. Awesome

      1. 1

Thank you! Comments like these are the best motivation to keep on building 💪

  18. 1

@Kleu looks decent I think the design could be cleaned up a bit (browsing on mobile) regarding the empty space, it looked like some of the sections were missing content.

I'd recommend having some options up or something before having to select a category just to get an idea of what you are getting.

    Nice work

    1. 1

Hey Expressus, thanks for looking. Yeah you are right, there are missing user profiles that I need to get filled in. I think ill remove some of the categories for now as its confusing everyone. Thanks again!

    1. 1

I'm not really getting the difference to a calendar immediately.

I also don't have so many meetings to I have pain points there so probably I am not in the target group.

      1. 1

Thanks. Yes, it is meant for people who have a lot of meetings.

  19. 1

japan-dev.com is a portal for finding English-friendly tech jobs and info about innovative companies in Japan.

    1. 1

Maybe add a filter for cities as well? I think it makes sense for tech people, who want to work in Japan.

  20. 1

https://expressus.io - Elegant diagrams made simple

Roast me can take it :D

    1. 2

Looks very cool. I was watching the illustration on the first hero section for a while, waiting for it to show me the "popped" / finished diagram but it never came. Maybe show off what your product can create not just how it creates them

      1. 1

Thanks, that's the opposite advice I gave to someone else actually but makes sense, I should probably show a collection of finished diagrams.

    2. 2

Good that I can have a live demo.

How does it differentiate from https://www.diagrams.net/ ?

      Maybe it's more simple.

      1. 1

I think the issue I had personally with diagrams.net and other existing diagram tools is that the output (while functional) doesn't look good, or requires a lot of time / design nous in order to achieve that.

I'm attempting to build a tool which takes design decisions out of your hands and hopefully provides attractive diagrams out of the box.

        1. 1

I am not the best person to talk to for feedback. I need flow chart diagrams like once or twice a year. The solutions I found were good enough.

See who needs them more often and what pain points they have.

    3. 1

You have an unecessary horizontal scroll bar visible all the time.

  21. 1

@Kleu, I like the concept. When I click on any of the categories under "select a category to explore" however, it just scrolls down to a blank screen. I don't envisage this is what you want happening?

    1. 1

Hey, gordon. Thanks for looking! Yeah, your right, there are supposed to be they experts profiles under there, only problem is we don't have enough to fill all the categories. Think I need to do some work to get rid of the categories.

      1. 1

No worries at all. You can build them up over time I am sure.

  22. 1

Still very early stage validation process with this idea. Probably haven't nailed down the key pain points yet but here's my landing page in the meantime: https://www.learningclub.co/

    1. 1

I had a similar idea to easily create an accountability group to mentor you with goals, but I am wondering if it is actually beneficial after seeing this ted talk.

But there must be some benefits with group learning.

      I never heard "surefire" before.

I like your landing page otherwise.

    1. 2

I firat didn't get what the tool does until I watched the video. Then it seems to require many steps till i can send a newaletter with those records. And now I am wondering if I had tp do that for each newsletter, aka one sheet = one newaletter?

      1. 1

        Hi @azarai!

Thank you for the feedback. I've taken it on board and made the landing page explain that one sheet is equal to one newsletter. In terms of setting up the campaign, I've also done some work with the Mailchimp API to eliminate most of the setup you saw in that video.

New video demo coming soon :)

    2. 2

I don't get how the product automatically enters the data in the Google Sheet like in the examples. Or is it just the sending?

For the sending from Google sheets etc to Mailchimp I could also use Zapier, but maybe this is too complicated to setup for some.

      1. 1

        Hey @kaioelfke,

Thanks for the feedback. The product consumes Google sheets and turns them into RSS feeds which then get auto-plugged into Mailchimp.

Note taken on the Zapier side of things, as a tray.io employee I agree that everything can be done in automation workflows ;) But sometimes a smoother more user-friendly flow is better.

        1. 2

I would highlight that more Google Sheets into RSS. I guess there's more use cases for this than only Mailchimp.

    1. 1

      Super nice illustrations.

I am a carrd user. I am intrigued enough to try and see what I can do and what the limitations are. From the demo it seems I can only create designs with these white cards? I don't want to create an account for a demo.

      1. 1

        Thanks, Kai!

Yep, those cards are like building blocks where you can add any kind of action button you want. One Profile is for people who want to quickly build simple, sleek, and practical landing pages at an affordable price. You'll save time from not choosing countless templates and from not building everything from scratch. No need to think of designing your page with columns or sections. Just plug and play. But I'd recommend Carrd anytime if your goal is to have maximum flexibility.

I haven't built the functionality where you can test a demo without an account but you can always delete your account after signing up with just a click of a button. Carrd was built 3 years ago, mine was only 2 weeks. I'll get there soon :)

Thanks for considering One Profile though! Hope you'll give it a quick try :)

        1. 1

          Crazy just two weeks?

I'd get bored of the same design / layout so it's not for me, but I get some don't even want to bother with no code web design in carrd and just paste in some content.

When looking up threads like this my willingness for account creation is low. You never really know how easy it is to delete accounts, you get mails, you have your email and password on some server etc.

          1. 1

Haha, I'll take that as a compliment :)

Yep, I agree. It might get boring so I'm thinking of adding different backgrounds or themes soon. However, the main layout and core functionality of using those cards will remain the same.

Personally, when I intend to try a product, I use an email dedicated to testing and I use a password manager to generate a random password. If I like it, I'll switch to my main email and leave the password. If I don't like it, I'll just delete the account and whether it remains in their servers on it it's not a big deal for me. But I understand that not everyone is the same. Will try to accommodate more people :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Kai. It really helps to hear people's feedback!

    2. 1

While I wouldn't personally sign up to this as a dev, you have some top notch design skills and I've bookmarked this as design inspiration.

      1. 1

Thanks for the nice compliment, Nathan. Hope it helps :)

    1. 1

There's some bug with the way you posted the link. It redirects me to the IH website.

But the website looks nice and it's clear. Another cool thing would be a listing of no code jobs.

      1. 1

Thanks for pointing out, I've fixed it now!

    1. 1

      Fantastic footage you got there

    2. 1

That's a good idea, but your site loads super slow. And then my MacBook Pro becomes loud and slow. Your site somehow kills my CPU.

    1. 2

I guess the difficult thing is to motivate enough customers to download this app. But if you really want to stay updated about a business it might work. The page is clear to understand.

      1. 1

Yeah, that's our problem we're trying to solve now.

    1. 2

Nice, I don't use React but I used something like that for Rails and I think it makes sense. The landing page looks good to me.

  23. 1

https://quizmail.me/ gained 100 users, never had the power to continue the project

    1. 1

Yes some examples would be good. But the page is easy to understand.

There's a typo "intersting" - it should be interesting.

    2. 1

I need to know the benefits of why I should sign up. What are the questions like? Is it a game or something else? Basically, answer why should I give you my email in 1 sentence.

      1. 1

well, if you know the word quiz or trivia it will make sense (im not really interested on gaining users that are not already in this field)

    1. 2

Looks good. Just a few changes and it will be perfect:

      1. Do not use the word "Dead" in Dead simple reminders. It is not a good marketing word. Make it friendly instead.

      2. Simplify the description from "Other reminder apps" as that gives people the idea they need to look at other apps first. Just state the problem and how you solve it. EXAMPLE: "Finally, a one-click reminder"

      3. Instead of Features first, give the benefits with features underneath.
EXAMPLE: Snooze Reminders when you're busy.

      4. Tell me your story about who you are and why you choose to solve this problem. Let me know the person or team behind the app.

      1. 1

        Sweet stuff, thanks!
        Gonna implement these changes soon.

    2. 1

Nice design, cool colors. Will it work with keyboard only? How wil you handle the rope on mac?

    3. 1

I didn't immediately understand that I control the time with how much I pull.

The design looks nice with the color waves.

    1. 2

Looks cool but difficult to understand what it is. Maybe say in the header that its a podcast?

      1. 1

Thank You. It is not a podcast. It is a written series. A podcast in words maybe?

        1. 1

Ahh that makes more sense. A podcast in words could be a cool tagline?

          1. 2

Changed it to "A Podcast In Words On Profiting From Big Mistakes"

    2. 2

I really like the idea and concept. If anything, it's not very clear what to expect from rewind - I had to bounce around for awhile before understanding that it's blog posts. To the left you are calling it "episodes" (notify me) and the logo is a tape so I think I really expected audio, but all I could find was text. Maybe it could be good to be a bit more clear about this to attract people who prefer text format :)

    3. 1

Hey I saw you changed the intensive site. It looks better to me now.

"Six Weeks. No Excuses. Unparalleled Results" There's no dot in the end.

I like the rewind content, but this image makes me think it's a podcast.

  24. 1

    https://justclarify.com

Roast as much as possible. I will not get offended 😂

    1. 2

I would add a bit more visual separation between sections.

I'd highlight more the benefit that now all customers can send videos instead of just those, who know how to make a screen recording.

    2. 2

jeez that looks super slick. Great work! possibly un-roastable

    3. 2

Great idea and clean design. Good Job!

The things I noticed that need to be updated are:

      1. You need a background color or some other visual element for "Subject of your request" as it looks at a form element for the page.

      2. Maybe use a video of the screen working instead of still pictures for the "Facing problems..." at the top image. Something to show how easy it is to use while projecting the value.

      3. If you go to support, the back to site button does not work.

      1. 1

        Thanks for your feedback.

You need a background color or some other visual element for "Subject of your request" as it looks at a form element for the page.

This is a video it should play automatically when this section is visible to the user but yes it will look like plain form will add some background-color

Maybe use a video of the screen working instead of still pictures for the "Facing problems..." at the top image. Something to show how easy it is to use while projecting the value

Right now I am in the process of making one

If you go to support, the back to site button does not work.

This is a problem I will fix it

Again thanks for the feedback, it's very helpful.

    1. 1

Opened then page for the first time, on tablet, and before i could even read a line this damn drift bot popup opened.

Text alignment ia off on mobile, some centred some left. And centered cosr turns me off.

Also, i see code at the top but the thing tells me it is a chrome extension. That confuses me. Didn't want to look further.

    2. 1

Doesn't resize for me very well, the header gets larger before the hamburger menu pops up. Overall seems very impressive. If i were you id put the picture at the bottom of your page actually showing the product higher up ahead of the illustrations

      1. 1

Thanks for the feedback brother. We'll look into it.

    3. 1

I was confused by the illustrations. They don't seem to be adding to the copy.

    4. 1

Nice website. The only issues are:

      1. Do not say for everyone. Pick a niche market: (Sales, Data Science, etc...) Based on who you decide, say "Web Scraping for the Sales Pro" or "Rapid Web Scraping for Data Scientist"

      2. Showing code on the first page does not say, "easy to use". Instead, show an animated gif or video of one click and pulling information.

      3. Based on the audience, you may not want to say "Headless Chrome". Unless it is developers (maybe Data Scientist), say it in a less jargon way.

      4. Start with the Chrome Extension for the quick way to get started.

      1. 2

I used an SEO tool for the phrase "Sales", "Data Science". Seems like it has zero searches. Do you have any better suggestions?

        1. 1

It is based on who you are targeting. Define your target market first. Then look for SEO best terms. Do not base your target market on SEO.

For example, it may be Sales Scrapping or some other phrase salespeople use. However, there is one. Data Science may use a different phrase entirely. Find the niche you want to target then ask them what they call it. Use social media to see what niche wants to engage with your offering.

    5. 1

I think there is nothing to roast here and Cool name by the way scrapingdog.com

    1. 1

It's a nice idea and I get it, but I think it would be less abstract with actual thumbnails. E.g. put an obviously bad one, an okay one and a good one as image to make it easier to understand.

      1. 1

Have now added a screenshot of what our output looks like with real thumbnails! Would love to hear what you think!

        1. 1

Yes it's better as I see the product.

But I wouldn't include anything abstract in your page like the boxes with "Thumbnail 1". My brain needs to work for this. It sounds boring. I'd always put actual thumbnails to explain the process. You can write a small text label below with "First Thumbnail".

    2. 1

I think it could definitely benefit from a large hero section showing some thumbnails. There's quite a lot of text and it doesn't really draw me in. Also the existing user button, feels like unnecessary clutter

      1. 1

Have now added a screenshot of what our output looks like with real thumbnails and removed the clutter!

Would love to hear what you think!

    3. 1

It seems odd that the landing page itself does not show any thumbnails.

      1. 1

We've now fixed this and added a screenshot of what our output looks like with real thumbnails!

    4. 1

I would be careful about using orange. People tend to have a more negative reaction to it. I have it in my prodcut too and am looking to change it.

      1. 1

Very interesting! Are you referring to how people can associate orange with caution?

    5. 1

First impression when it loads is that there are wayyy too many things asking for my attention which makes it hard to understand what it is. Spacing things out would help with that.

Also the graphics are too similar so they blend together. I would include an image of the product or a screenshot from a video that show's it being used.

      1. 1

        Thanks for the feedback 😊

I've done another revamp which has included adding a screenshot of what our output looks like with real thumbnails along with changes to how things are organised. Would love to hear about whether you think the changes have made a difference!

    6. 1

      JOOMAA :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD im ded

      1. 1

No ELO in our calculations though 😉

      1. 1

Thank you for letting us know.

We just tried the registration process on our end with no issues.

Where in the registration process are you having trouble? Are you able to get to the registration page?

        1. 1

I click register, put my details down and nothing happens.

          1. 1

We can't seem to replicate that issue on our end. Have you tried refreshing the page or using a different browser?

            1. 1

no. maybe other users will have better luck. I'm gonna pass :)

    1. 2

There is a literal empty space below the fold that's like 500 pixels long. It feels like something should load there after scrolling but nothing happens.

I thought nothing about what your product offers until I scrolled down and up a few times, then I took a look at the menu bar. That's when it hit me.

Maybe make the Video chat lessons from experts bigger, and the animated stuff smaller?

Also, blocking right-click menu and copy-paste functionality? Why? That'll only slow down people if they want to copy something out of your website. Simply blocking Javascript will get past your attempts of blocking.

Hey, hkanaktas, thanks for looking. The empty space was where the expert profiles are supposed to load, we just don't have enough people signed up yet to fill them all out.

Also deffo great tip on making the video chat lessons part bigger, going to get that all changed later today

I'm not by any means a landing page expert but I'll give it a shot:

      • None of the categories showed up under Select a category to explore until I scrolled almost past that section of the page.
      • When I clicked on Business nothing happened (were results supposed to show up underneath that section?
      • IMO your Become an expert page is way more attractive and compelling than your Find an expert page

Thank you, Levi. Good spot with the loading times, I've changed the length of the animation, and I may get rid of it altogether to try and improve the UI.
I should probably remove the categories where there arnt any experts yet

The alignment of your landing page is off when viewed on a widescreen monitor.
I think the underlying idea is good, but I wasn't able to find any experts on the website?

Thank you yang, good spot, will amend this.
Launched yesterday so only 1 expert so far. I should probably delete the categories where there aren't any so far.

It looks fine but the width is TOO SMALL. I would recommend increasing width by at least 50% - 70%
